What will Masterplan be after the C&D?

I'm not as familiar with Masterplan as I'd like to be; I'm just now getting to the point of evaluating available game planning/assisting apps. But didn't Masterplan grow out of a tile mapper that WotC themselves use and have linked from the D&D website in the past? I know the RPGA has been using...

[4e] Would Star Pact Warlocks be Opposed to Psionics?

Warlocks are basically contractors, and every contract is unique. It's all about the Fine Print... ;)

Retcon the dumb "Faction War" and bring back the FULL on Blood War?

This isn't about editions. I thought the Blood War was boring and contrived when they first rolled it out in 2E, and nothing I've seen in any edition before or since has changed that. The assertion that the Blood War 'explains' why the fiends haven't 'taken over' is the iconic root of its phony...

Tomb of Horrors: A 4th Edition D&D Super Adventure

Its a series of modular adventures/encounters spread out across that level range that you can mix-n-match/thread into an existing campaign. AFAIK B-)

    EN World Buttons (@Russ)

Glad to see this issue being discussed, it's still a problem for me. I have plenty of horizontal screen resolution, but I don't like to keep my browser maximized. Especially when reading forums! There's a reason print formats use multiple columns; if the (reading) scan line is too wide it...

    New Realms = Old School

Windjammer, looking at your nifty terrain encounter charts, I do not see moor. The proximity of the High Moor to Loudwater has me looking at this region in some detail. I'm currently looking through older source material for all the adventure sites I can find, both canon and non (Legacy of the...

    New Realms = Old School

Nice. I have similar requirements, so it's no surprise we're thinking along parallel lines. Just a couple of follow-up comments, and then I will try to move back towards the OP topic... All MYRE adventures are non-canon by definition, regardless of the LFR campaign as a whole. Anyone can RPGA...

    New Realms = Old School

Thanks! :D Yes, the format is fixed: the DM decides which bundles the players can choose from (they only get one each) during the MYRE adventure (if any), but in the case of the magic item bundle, the players get the narrative power to choose a PHB-series item of their level or less. Which is...

    New Realms = Old School

I don't disagree with you in general, and if you (or someone) is running a 'home' LFR game, and one of your players takes his PC to a con, no one is likely to care how you ran your game as long that PC fits the expected LFR norms. However, my situation is a little more complicated, since I'm...

    New Realms = Old School

Great minds, and all that.., I had exactly this same idea. I was already thinking about troubleshooting a 4E sandbox format, while also playing LFR regularly and looking at the MYRE guidelines; so when Windjammer posted this thread a fiendishly perverse notion entered my head. Why not...

Help me make WotC adventures better.

Outside the delve format, I think this thread has some strong, awesome consensus about what a lot of us would like to see in future WotC adventures. Woot. Now I think we'd kinda like to know what the devs think. Complicating this somewhat, is the fact that Rodney has multiple instances of this...

What is the best 4e political adventure?

Just in case you have access to RPGA adventures, the BALD1-6 Brothers In Arms LFR module has some notable political tension involving foreign diplomacy, paladin honor codes, and conflict of interest within the ranks of the Flaming Fist mercenary company in Baldur's Gate. Its one of the better...

Vote for your favorite Paragon Path - Part 9: Swordmage

Some of the best swordy PPs belong to other arcane classes (I'm looking at you, Warlock). Guess that kinda goes with the hybrid nature of the class.

    New Realms = Old School

Bumping this thread with my base-layer, player-friendly hex map for a Loudwater-based campaign area. Since my personal talents run more towards pixel-pushing than brush stroking, I eventually decided to photoshop the 3E map into 4E shape. This map forms the vanilla background layer; other...

    This mentality needs to die

bing! bing! bing! I'd also go so far to say that the power was still available for use in the current/next encounter, making this a harmless but educational experiment.

West marches style game in a published 4E campaign setting?

One of the things I liked about The North was very little in the way of geography changes for 4E (and why I'm getting away with using a 3E-based map), but just off to the east, on the border of the new Netheril shadow empire, is a HUGE rift called the Deep Maw. It's one of several new rifts or...

Does the swordmage marking power suck?

Does the swordmage marking power suck?

One other thing that just occurred to me... The -2 mark penalty is a bit perverse when it comes to the aegis of assault; I'd gladly trade the -2 critter penalty for a +2 bonus on my aegis basic attack. That helps the trigger and fits the punishment theme much better, but violates the universal...
