D&D 5E (2024) How do you rule using a Hand Crossbow with a nick weapon

That was the case with the old 2014 Crossbow expert feat, but it is not the case in 2024 because the light property and the crossbow expert property require an arequires the attack to be made with a different light weapon.

D&D 5E (2024) How do you rule using a Hand Crossbow with a nick weapon

The crossbow expert feat is irrelevant, it only affects the loading property, not the ammunition property. The ammunition property is what requires the free hand. You can throw a dagger or light hammer from range using nick and RAW you can do this after you fire your hand crossbow as the hand...

    D&D 5E (2014) What's a non-culty official adventure?

I do not remember any cults in Wild Beyond the Witchlight, Tomb of Annihilation or Dungeon of the Mad Mage.

D&D 5E (2024) How do you rule using a Hand Crossbow with a nick weapon

I am assuming no crossbow expert feat, just a normal PC using a hand crossbow and a light-nick weapon like a dagger or light hammer.

D&D 5E (2024) How do you rule using a Hand Crossbow with a nick weapon

The Hand crossbow is a light weapon, so by the light weapon property if you attack with it, you can use nick with another light nick weapon, for example throw a dagger, as part of the same attack action (assuming you have mastery). However you also need a hand free because a hand crossbow has...

D&D General Can I use your character for an NPC in my new market?

Venom - Green Dragonborn Fey Wanderer Ranger/Glamor Bard (actual PC also has 1 Monk level and 1 Druid level but those parts are not thematic). She is very whimsical and grew up in and around the Feywild. She has a green horse named Applejacks. She is essentially a con artist, uses her magic...

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

No I didn't. Please stop saying this. I changed it because I found encounter design difficult in high level play Because at high levels it makes PCs effectively immune to failing saving throws. This makes it extremely difficult to design encounters to meet the encounter design goals at the...

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

I said in that screenshot that it is NOT important! I changed indomitable at tables I DM because in high level play it is difficult to design encounters when a PC has this ability, not because it is "disruptive". That is what I said and that is even what you quoted, yet you interpreted...

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

IME other party members are high fiving the player who is running a bunch of minions.

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

You can't work more than a day on it because you have to recast animate dead. You have the numbers wrong. When you use Undead Thralls "you can target one additional corpse or pile of bones". This is NOT double the number of bones or one additional corpse for every level above 2nd. So RAW it...

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

Where? Please provide the quote and highlight the word "balance" in it where it is relevant to what you quoted. How so?

    D&D 5E (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage a Martial Consistently?

Ok maybe I am remembering wrong, I though Treantmonk said he was priamrily using Greatsword for Graze, but they could use Longbows as well when they were not in melee range.

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

I don't necessarily find the 2014 version of Indomitable "fun", Indomitable is not why I play a fighter, but the 2024 version at very high levels (say around 15+) makes encounters difficult to design, and more importantly it makes published material more difficult to directly apply to the game...

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

This is not true and if it were true players would not play weaker PCs. Everyone would play a max-power PC tailred for the level and campaign, and they don't. People build their characters to be fun and they play less than optimal characters frequently (virtually all the time in fact) and they...

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

Maybe that is inferred but if the player is wasting slots summoning undead it is a safe bet that is part of what he or she wants in a character. Unless the other players are fans too, which I think they almost always are in cases like this.

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

Well IMO balance is not fun. I think a "balanced" game is going to be boring and dull. People who worry about whether one PC is more powerful than another or whether one ability is more powerful than another are the ones who are not having fun IME. I don't think the game is broken and the...

D&D 5E (2024) The Undead Army Necromancer is not Designable

The last thing I want is game designers worrying about balance. They need to worry about fun. If it is fun for players in the game, it should stay in the game.

    D&D 5E (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage a Martial Consistently?

Etherealness keeps them from hitting you, but it does not stop things you left on the battlefield from hitting them and it is a relatively constricted battlefield So something like this if 4 Bards beat all 4 fighters in initiative: Bard 1: Time Stop - Blink, Modenkainan's Hound, Truesight...

    D&D 5E (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage a Martial Consistently?

Initiative is Huge. They are 18th level casters. If you win initiative you kill 2 of them. If they win initiative they unleash spells that flat prevent you from killing them for several rounds.
