Altaruk, on the Sea of Silt (Dark Sun 4E OOC)

It's kind of unusual for a leader-role character to take point, but Ardie probably should given her perception score relative to everyone else's, though due to Group Awareness everyone else gets a +1 when they're within five squares of her.

[4e] drothgery's arcane game - Clash of Steel

Lady Daybring flashes a quick smile at Tatterdemalion's efforts to extract a similarly-sized cat from where she would like to sit. "I'd hoped, especially by cooperating with the Empire, that we would finally be able to bring a stable order to this city. Until recently, we were making...

[4e] drothgery's arcane game - Clash of Steel

After discussing your findings with each other and securing rooms at an inn, it was almost time for your engagement with Lady Daybringer. A servant answers the door, and takes you inside.A servant leads you to a high-ceilinged, spacious drawing room, decorated far more lavishly than the...

Leif's "Revenge of the Giants" [4E] Recruiting

FWIW, I added a few sentences of background to Sariel, giving her a last name and some FR-isms...

Which spellcaster should get which spellcasting system?

That wasn't the problem, I think. The problem was access to all spells combined with a diverse, powerful, and ever-expanding spell list. I kind of liked the short spell list + know everything on your list + spontaneous casting of the specialist-in-a-box classes in 3.5 expandsion material...

[Adventure] Rhapsody Part 2 (Judge: renau1g)

I think the party found out about the Kenku bar before Narvala joined (though we went there afterwards). I'm not sure we ever figured out how they fit into all of this

[4e] drothgery's arcane game - Clash of Steel

no follow-up?As their private investigations wind down for the afternoon, the group reconnects to discuss their findings, find an inn, get settled, and then go off to Lady Daybringer's.History: Basic inquiries at the city’s hall of records or by talking to old-timers can glean the following bits...

    So, Attacks of Oppportunity?

I was speaking more of a general rule than a universalism there; 4e said casting range 'close' spells did not provoke OAs, and I'd be fine with a category of spells designed to be use in melee that didn't incur risk.

Altaruk, on the Sea of Silt (Dark Sun 4E IC)

"If our companion from the House knows the caravan's route... I prefer the wastes to the cities." Ardie said.

Altaruk, on the Sea of Silt (Dark Sun 4E OOC)

Well, here's my cheat sheet, at any rate.

    So, Attacks of Oppportunity?

I definitely want some kind of mechanics that say casting in melee is a bad idea using ranged weapons in melee is a bad idea running past the fighter to get to the wizard is a bad idea you're likely to get hit if you panic and run doing something complicated in the middle of combat other than...

    Awfully Alarmed About Armour

That, and no 2-for-1 power attack and 1.5x strength bonus to make two-handed weapons awesome or extra attacks to make dual-wielding awesome (for the most part; many ranger powers and some others gave extra attacks).

    AD&D 2E As a strategy 4e or 2e on classes

The thing is that the multi-classing approach has never given us a good and balanced fighter-mage. We had the one that was way better than a fighter or a mage in 1e and 2e (the balancing factors being largely irrelevant), the one that was way worse than a fighter or mage in 3e (even if you were...

The Illusionist: Class, Background or Theme?

Class, though probably not a first player's book class. And I'm thinking something along the lines of the 3.5 Beguiller here (though with more effective spells), not just a wizard with a different spell list.

    AD&D 2E As a strategy 4e or 2e on classes

I'm in the 'lots of classes' camp. Even if it means putting some more niche concepts off to later books (granted, if WotC asked me, they'd basically be making 4.5 with Epic chopped out and more 3.x-esque flavor).

    Druid or Cleric?

Druids are kind of odd ducks. From a story point of view, casting them as a specific order of priests seems perfectly reasonable. Mechanically, though, they've always been somewhat different from clerics, and at least in 3.x had picked up so many abilities that they basically got chopped into...

[4e][OOC] Clash of Steel [13th level]

If your character seeks out another PC, you'll find him or her without much difficulty (unless they've gotten involved in something that changes that, but right now no one has); I'll probably have you meet up somewhere before going to Lady Daybringer's residence if what you're doing this...

[4e] drothgery's arcane game - Clash of Steel

Not surprisingly for a former bandit town, even among the well-heeled there are plenty that love to gamble, and Silas is able to find such a place without much difficulty. Finding someone willing to talk about more than cards or the latest events in the capital proves more difficult, however...
