D&D 5E (2024) Life drain needs to be replaced with Exhaustion

I still morn the fact that the Condition Track from SW:SE was never ported into D&D like people were speculating before 4E hit. For those who don't know: It's like the exhaustion track, but it also replaces status conditions and non-lethal damage.

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) IC

Dandin, sensing the growing tensions, hands out apples to everyone who will accept. "A snack will do us a bit of good while we wait." Casing Goodberry, for 10 apples. Anyone of the PCs or NPCs nearby can partake of one for now or later if they wish.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Beyond: Any negative experiences?

I've never actually ordered anything physical from them. The closest things I have had to negative experiences with their services are: The search bar generally being bad. It's slow, and false positives choke the search results. (Direct navigation, on the other hand, is simply handled with...

D&D 5E (2014) Dungeoncraft Interview with Mike Mearls

I'm pretty sure WoW was trying to copy EverQuest more so than D&D at the time. But then again, EverQuest did copy a bunch of stuff from D&D so...

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) IC

Dandin rode proudly upon Ol' Sooty, happily munching a breakfast apple and eager to see his companions again. Unfortunately, the mood at the gate was a bit too sour for his tastes. "Sirs, Ladies, Friends! Glad to see you all again! But what seems to be the trouble?"

    D&D 5E (2024) New Constructs, Plants, Beasts & Humanoids | 2024 Monster Manual | D&D

They really could have done with a proper "Build your own NPC/Monster" chapter and sidestepped most of the problem people have with humanoids in the book entirely. Just throw in a bunch of templates, one for each species, and have the generic stat blocks to drape them over. And lets be clear...

    D&D 5E (2024) Is Monster Manual 2025 compatible with 2014 Characters?

The big issues would come from player abilities like Wildshape and Polymorph, which skim the MM for stat blocks. A lot of the MM24 monsters are significantly more deadly than their MM14 counterparts.

D&D General BG3 Impact: Players Embracing the BG3 Companions As PCs

None of the above. Come to think of it, I've never had a player do a Drizzt clone either. Though I have had one play a Jarlaxle fanboy.

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

I would dare say it's less about D&D being uncool, and more about WotC being uncool.

D&D General Which edition did Turn Undead the best?

I don't think I have ever been satisfied with Turn Undead at the table.

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

No, that's what makes it weird. The Hatchling is a living creature with a "real" biology and the intelligence of a human. If it was a true animal, it wouldn't be as weird.

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

I don't think the new PDK actually works beyond the "It's cooler than the old PDK!" reaction. It's kind of a mess, really. For starters, they half removed the old subclass leader role in order to give fighters a pet. It's not that fighters don't have room for a pet class, but this one still has...

    D&D Forums and Spam Threads

I've just seen the same account post like 6 threads, and that's just one of them. Yeah, new and unposted accounts need to be limited somehow, not being able to create threads until they have posted somewhere else and a daily limit on posts until they post 4 or 5 times maybe.

Do You Think Open Playtests Improve a Game's Development?

The D&D Next playtest wasn't actually a playtest. It was more like an open marketing feedback survey.

D&D 5E (2024) Monster manual Fey video up

This thing about what is humanoid and what's not humanoid is getting far too complicated for anyone's good. So. PCs have to be humanoid, even when they are ostensibly the same species as their non-humanoid cousins, because they are lesser than their relatives for arbitrary reasons? But also...
