WotC Baldur's Gate III Announced; Powered by D&D 5E

Er, no ... I just want a Mind Flayer in the group. Y'know, like the one from the prophecies who will retain his host's persona and alignment.

WotC Baldur's Gate III Announced; Powered by D&D 5E

Can't wait to have my Dragonborn Paladin go toe to toe with Mind Flayers! And I can't wait for the inevitable mod which will allow you to have a Mind Flayer as a Player Character!

WotC Baldur's Gate III Announced; Powered by D&D 5E

[As for the story Larian has in mind, it's clear that Mind flayers will have a big part to play in Baldur's Gate 3. Asked why Larian is focusing on the Cthulu-like brain eaters, Vincke says dryly, "They're Mindflayers, they're cool. They also have an element of Spelljammer to them [a 2nd edition...

WotC Baldur's Gate III Announced; Powered by D&D 5E

I sincerely hope we'll see console versions. With both the Divinity Original Sin games being out for consoles, and the original Baldur's Gate games being ported in the coming weeks, it makes sense we'll see a PS4/Xbox One version as well.

Do your PCs begin their campaign in their first settlement as visitors and wanderers, or as its citizens?

When you begin a new campaign, do you prefer the PCs to be visitors in their very first settlement, or do you prefer them to have been born and raised there? Are they the wandering heroes who stumbled upon a city and witness its troubles, or are they longtime citizens who finally decide to make...

GameHole Con Hints At An "As Yet Unannounced Setting" for D&D This Year

Well, if it *does* turn out to be the Realms (once more), I will definitely refrain from being excited whenever that man speaks of 'unannounced settings'.

GameHole Con Hints At An "As Yet Unannounced Setting" for D&D This Year

A Campaign Setting was always considered to be a 'world' in D&D, as far as I know. If Valley considers the term to encompass a mere region of a world, then Tomb of Annihilation was a Setting book, since Chult wasn't included in the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide.

GameHole Con Hints At An "As Yet Unannounced Setting" for D&D This Year

"The premiere of an Epic event set in as yet unannounced setting" and "The premiere of adventures set in as yet unannounced setting". Unannounced *setting*. Does a region of Toril count as a setting? I think not. Safest bet would be Eberron, but it *was* announced as a setting in 5e - it just...

Questions to DMs about how they use the Roper monster ...

    1) How many tendrils do you let it regenerate on the beginning of its turn? One? Or all those which it lost on the PCs' turn? 2) Do you let your PCs add their athletics when attempting to break a tendril with a STR check?

Arcana of The Ancients: 5E Sci-Fantasy From Monte Cook Games Launches On KS

If I don't back this on KS, do I lose any chance of getting it? Or will it find itself to stores eventually?

Time Limit as a Stress Inducer: Thoughts?

Most of you here have probably played the Witcher 3. One of the things I loved was when there were decisions Geralt had to take, with a time limit to choose. [KILL THE BANDIT / SPARE HIM] So I am thinking of making some stuff like that. Like, let's assume that a powerful shady NPC has his...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e tumbling through opponent squares?

A monster with blindsight is surrounded by 8 human fighters. F=Fighter M=Monster FFF FMF FFF The monster casts darkness, and all the fighters are effectively blinded. They all attack on their turn, they all miss. The monster, on the next turn, uses its action to tumble through one of them...

[5E] Interrupting a Spellcaster via Ready Action

The Grimlock *dashes*, which means he used his action to double-move. Which is why he didn't attack the caster on that round. You are correct on your mini/video game feel. I create my maps and miniatures in photoshop, and my players look at the tv as I move the 'miniatures' accordingly during...

[5E] Interrupting a Spellcaster via Ready Action

The part the 'naysayers' are referring to is right after what you've cited. "When the trigger occurs, you can either take your reaction right after the trigger finishes or ignore the trigger." It's the word 'finishes' which creates this whole debate. When the trigger is 'the second I see...

[5E] Interrupting a Spellcaster via Ready Action

Sorry, I had Shield of Faith in mind. Which doesn't make it better since it's a Divine Spell and the PC is supposed to be a wizard in this example. :D

[5E] Interrupting a Spellcaster via Ready Action

Which is why I am against of the spellcaster rolling concentration checks everytime he gets hit, UNLESS he was about to cast a spell which requires concentration. A character/NPC/monster which rolled a higher initiative should be (imo) rewarded with being able to screw with less fast/lucky...
