    Suggest some books

I just finished The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, which I really, really enjoyed.

overlap zone and aura damage stack?

Flipguarder, see page 278 of the Player's Handbook - Ongoing Damaage (The Same Type of Ongoig Damage). Basically, ongoing damages of the same type - regardless of source - do not stack.

    What's your damage?

Being bit by an enraged wild animal is bad. I'd suggest you clean your scratches and bits REALLY well and (if I were you) I'd get myself to a Urgent Care or Emergency Room to make sure I was safe.

How long do you spend preparing a game?

I can prep about 8 hours of 4e gaming fun in about 2 hours time. That gives me all the magic items, monsters, etc. The nuts & bolts, if you will. That said, I spend about another 4 hours prep time to account for story-bording and mixing sound files for use in game. Then there is the constant...

Two-Volume Settings and the Legacy of Editions Past

This may sound a bit weird, but I don't want there to be a ton of books for any setting. I LOVE the current model. LOVE IT! I don't want to have to worry about things that happen (and that I develop) in my campaign to contend with newly published books. I like the idea of "here is a setting...

Form of the Fearsome ram attack; shift optional?

Thank you (Truth is, I'm an insufferable rules lawyer.) :p

    D&D Sound Effects?

I've taken sound effects from EverQuest, Doom, F.E.A.R., WoW, and Neverwinter Nights (as well as few oddball ones here and there) and used them for my games. I use a program called Audacity when I want to mix a loop (prepared before the game, naturally). To play the sounds, I use VLC Media...

Game broke down over Pinning Strike

See PHB2, page 219, Movement Effects. In short, by RAW, the shift to follow is optional.

Form of the Fearsome ram attack; shift optional?

Sorry, guys, but the move is optional. Please see PHB2, page 219, Movement Effects sidebar. MOVEMENT EFFECTS Many powers allow you and your allies to move or allow you to move your enemies forcibly. If a power notes a distance that you or an ally moves (for example, "you shift 2 squares"), the...

    2010: Is it Dragonlance? (hint)

I think you're spot on with the general consensus, but I don't agree with it. The same thing can be said about Star Wars and SWSE has been a great success and can be quite fun to play. Assuming DL is the next setting, I'm hoping they move the timeline forward to a point where the events of the...

    2010: Is it Dragonlance? (hint)

Well if it is, it will be the first 4e setting I'll buy. It isn't my first choice (Al'Qadim, oh how I miss thee), but Dragonlance has always had a special place in my heart.

    Rules overload for players

It is a form, and most everything calculates automatically. However, you need (or I need) to add code for each new power. If you're comforatable with VBA it's a snap (takes me like 3 minutes to add a new block (copying another), give the fields some unique names, and call a couple of functions...
