Level Up (A5E) 1 level fighter dip too easy?

I think your analysis is correct, particularly for Heralds who get a regular exertion pool on top.

Level Up (A5E) Draft of the Bladesworn Warlock: an A5e Hexblade and 1/3 Martial

This is pretty unbalanced but it’d be fun to play, no doubt.

    Level Up (A5E) Archetypes list

An option to sort the archetypes would be handy, especially by class. Not necessary, but nice.

Level Up (A5E) Berserker too strong?

This analysis seems to have a few problems. Perhaps the most major is that it doesn’t appear to account for the fact that the second crit on relentless is gated behind the first crit. So the ex ante chance of getting two extra attacks from each swing would be (1 - [0.2775]^2), or about 7.7%...

Official News Voidrunner’s Codex Playtest: Psion

There’s a lot of neat ideas in here, I really like it. One thing that stood out to me immediately: how much does it cost to levelboost a psychic reflex? The playtest document seems to suggest it is free (double the cost of zero is zero). But that seems to way, way too good, so I must be...

    Level Up (A5E) Swordmage/ Magus

A simple mechanical solution is probably to just swap radiant damage for force damage and charisma for intelligence. It obviously won’t be particularly distinct.

Level Up (A5E) Parrying Weapons & Duelist subclass.

Expertise dice stack, so if it doesn’t take a reaction, you could use both against 1 attack, I think.

Level Up (A5E) Multiclass Extra Attack

The current language also suffers from the flaw of failing to rule out something like Fighter 5/Berserker 6 getting three attacks. The rule says the 11th-level Extra Attack feature is an exception to the rule against stacking. Reading it most literally means that it does nothing until you get...

Level Up (A5E) The sorcadin is dead. Long live the sorcadin!

You could. You'd be forgoing Extra Attack, though, and I think that'd be rough for your burst damage. Great points. Probably it's not optimal. It looks much worse than the sorcadin, and it's for sure against the general spirit of A5e.

Level Up (A5E) The sorcadin is dead. Long live the sorcadin!

We all know the Sorcadin got a bad rap in O5e. Sure, it had ridiculous burst and could absolutely dominate encounters, all while providing the party with the best support ability in the whole freaking game. A5e tried to kill the sorcadin, and for good reason. But the Sorcadin lives. The...

Level Up (A5E) Rules Question: Combat Directives

I’m not sure I agree that’s how it works with the abstract concepts going on here because your reaction replaces one of your attacks. For instance, you could cast a cantrips instead of attacking. But that’s totally reasonable and consistent with what I expect is RAI. I think the language...

Level Up (A5E) Rules Question: Combat Directives

Perfect answer, thanks. I had overlooked that. One remaining corollary: can marshals use Commanding Presence on themselves? I.e., does the marshal count as “a friendly creature within range” for the purpose of the ability?

Homebrew Homebrew: The Dread Knight (Warlock)

Sorry, I’m horrible at using the forums on my phone. I totally think spell-points-for-exertion is a viable idea, I’d focus on balancing for levels 3–8 more than anything else. I think your best bet is probably to require a temp exertion pool at the start of a turn, with a little tax on the...

Homebrew Homebrew: The Dread Knight (Warlock)

I love this idea, and would love to see a warlock subclass with maneuvers, but these first level features are not even close to balanced. Spell points grow much faster than exertion pools, and are both short rest resources. And compare your eldritch smite feature to the Brute fighter’s.

Level Up (A5E) Rules Question: Combat Directives

It might consume the commanding presence attack, true. But is that true with any maneuver, including something like Legion Stance? Can you even let an ally use a bonus action maneuver?

Level Up (A5E) Rules Question: Combat Directives

I’m struggling to understand how this works with maneuvers. The relevant text is: “In addition, when a creature uses your Commanding Presence to make an attack, it can simultaneously use one Sanguine Knot combat maneuver that you know.” How does this interact with maneuvers that let you take...
