I Love Gaming but I Hate Gamers!

I agree that the best thing to do is game with your friends. If you can't do that, be very picky. There is no need to stay in a group where the sort of behavior you've outlined is tolerated--just pack up your dice and move on.

Do you keep strict track of the date in your game world?

Hjorimir designed an impressive calendar for his game world that is tied directly to the mythology of his world. I'm in awe of both the effort and the product, actually (see attached for a small portion.) Me, I use the Gregorian calendar for my homebrew.

Looking for a nastier version of a Carrion Crawler

What's the carrion crawler going to do with its other seven attacks?

Do you keep strict track of the date in your game world?

I absolutely keep track. It's important to maintain versimilitude for a variety of reasons--deadlines, upcoming events and religious observances, crafting, and movement of armies (most medieval military campaigns were waged in springtime and paused during winter). That said, I often handwave...

About to Become a Killer DM......

I would have one of the PCs have a very detailed, ominous dream--a premonition of disaster. If you're a decent writer, write it up and give it to him in a handout. Play up how frightened and distressed the dream made him feel upon awakening. Hopefully that will instill some caution.

    DDM Rant: Dwarves...Aaaarrrgghhh!

Feh. The beholder is a $40 mini on eBay--I have no problem with his cherry-picking. It's not like he opened packages to look inside.

Affect of a 3,000ft cliff on the landscape

If a sentient world has gravity, it has landslides and other mass movements, as well as related effects such as tsunami. If anything, his world sounds more geologically active than the real world--what normally occurs over the course of millions of years of geologic time sounds like it occurs in...

    Church of Bones, Prague

Cool or creepy? The Church of Bones I can't decide. Definitely one of those "truth is stranger than fiction" things.

Affect of a 3,000ft cliff on the landscape

Cliffs are created by the forces of erosion--wind and water. Over time, a gigantic cliff like that would fall victim to erosion in many places, creating mass movements of loose earth and rock that would fall down or flow overland due to gravity's pull. If a fall occured, thousands or even...

...Um? Advanced corrupted fiendish pseudonatural carrion crawler? This is one of those DM prep things.

To Deck the Halls or not

I feel you. My long-term girlfriend dumped me this year, and I'm not feeling the spirit either. Tree's probably going to stay in the closet.

Police: Teen rigged exploding pens for revenge

Depends on his ethnicity. If he's a member of a minority, he'll probably be tried as an adult and face a stiffer sentence.

    DDM Rant: Dwarves...Aaaarrrgghhh!

Yeah, dwarves aren't even a playable race IMC--but gnomes are. More gnomes!

Do your PCs ever completely outclass the enemy?

Not often enough. I generally DM once per month, and I'm always striving to challenge the PCs--you know, give them the most bang for their buck since we play so infrequently. It's easy to forget that players get great pleasure just owning up on bad guys once in a while.

So how big is the universe anyway?

That's what my ex-girlfriends would tell me. I wonder if it's relevant that they're my ex-girlfriends. :uhoh:

Just DMed my first Eberron game!

The Eberron dinosaurs remind me of John Carter of Mars, Conan, and Dinotopia. Pure pulp. I dig 'em.
