    Trailer Peacemaker 2

This looks good, yeah. Really liked the first season. And it was fun to see Peacemaker pop up briefly in Superman. It seems like the revamped DCU is also integrating its TV shows better with the movies than the MCU did.

Lost more than an hour after work Thursday on a tire repair (sharp object in one of the brand new ones I just bought Monday); no go Thursday. DID rally and get in Friday evening for three circuits of dumbbell bench, dumbbell inclined curls, behind the head skull crushers and seated lateral...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Sorry to hear it. I can attest that it's possible to enjoy the OSR only with wholesome creators, though there is the occasional disappointment of finding out that a cool product is made by a CHUD. "Scientists have calculated that the chances of something so patently absurd existing are millions...

    Realistic Combat that's Simple(ish)

Right. And in practice, D&D (for the key example) has increased PC durability and sped up healing over time to better emulate action films and other heroic fiction. Other games use different tools, like fame and fortune points, going back to Top Secret.

I suspect that shock was in fact fear and apprehension that you were about to pronounce the dread name!

I believe he's referencing a recurring bit he has about not saying the name of He Who Shall Not Be Named Whose Name Starts with a T.

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

A thing can be done frequently despite there being a very low percentage of people who are willing to do it. Millions of people can run a marathon each year, and it can still be true that less than 1% of people have ever run a marathon. Heroic rescues are more newsworthy and exceptional than...

    Realistic Combat that's Simple(ish)

On initial read I thought that with "steady pace of combat" Aramis was referring to its frequency/incidence rate. RPG characters tend to get in a LOT of fights, and this necessitates the odds of dying in one being relatively low if we're going to have ongoing character continuity. Although now...

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

Indeed? Or is this more selection bias, because such events are noteworthy and more likely to be reported on? I do appreciate that it's still a common ideal, at least. "Men are not ants", as Juan Rico argued in H&MP class in Starship Troopers (the novel). This desire to be heroic and save...

Ozzy has passed. Pour one out for the Prince of Darkness.

I got to see him two or three times at Ozzfest in the 2000s, including with full Sabbath in, I think, 2004. Bill Ward and all. A great show and cherished concert memory now.

Could not fit in a workout last night, in part due to car issues. And rose a bit late this morning and couldn't motivate to squeeze in my morning exercises. Going to see if I can rally tonight.

Definitely not! My 33 year old "circles of hell" Nirvana t-shirt I wear to sleep in sometimes is far too threadbare to offer much padding. Ja. He clearly seems to be referring to the Hickman Revolution, when TSR's primary design orientation shifted to more heroic arc focused and less...

Yuppers. Even the scant examples he gives don't support his thesis. He talks about bullet point / control panel layout being examples of 5th gen design, but he seems to be talking about 5th gen as a product of the OGL threat crisis, when of course OSE had those things back in 2019. I guess...

Selection bias is at play there. We call these people heroic because they are exceptional.

This does feel really D&D-focused. While he's not entirely off-based with his first few gens, they're really D&D gens, not encompassing most of the TTRPG market. Other folks have already mentioned how he's completely overlooking the universal systems in the 80s, like GURPS and Hero (which...
