D&D 5E (2014) The Next D&D Book is JOURNEYS THROUGH THE RADIANT CITADEL

Isn't that the whole theme of Ravenloft? I don't think even in the context of old editions there has ever been a case of a Domain actually getting better, even when the Darklord is defeated. The theme is that the land is forever, irrevocably cursed. The only thing PCs can do is save individuals...

D&D 5E (2014) The Next D&D Book is JOURNEYS THROUGH THE RADIANT CITADEL

I will add, like most lore "rules" 5E Ravenloft does openly provide exceptions. The biggest is Valachan, where Chakuna has successfully supplanted Baron Urik. It provides the context that yes, someone CAN defeat the Darklord and remove them from power... but someone needs to take their place...

D&D 5E (2014) The Next D&D Book is JOURNEYS THROUGH THE RADIANT CITADEL

I don't disagree. My point is largely that I do follow a lot of TTRPG people on social media, and CR definitely gets its share of criticism and praise. Some of it deserved, some of it not really. There are few other topics that I see come up that are as polarizing; most others fall decidedly...

D&D 5E (2014) Ajit George Talks About Radiant Citadel's Creators

That critique of Turning Red was insane. "I can't like this movie because it's about a young chinese-canadian girl." Like bro wut? You can't like movies when they aren't about specifically about your ethnic group? Still boggles my mind someone thought that was cogent critical analysis.

I'd say it's as polarizing as a subject in TTRPG circles can get. I think the debate is kind of dumb and has even become boring, but I still see it constantly. Vox Machina's show premier even made people make similar arguments about the TV show and it was just so cyclical.

D&D 5E (2014) Ajit George Talks About Radiant Citadel's Creators

If you're point is "Everyone from who graduated from a US college has the same perspective," I was hoping the quote I posted would rectify that. If you still feel that way, there's clearly no point in me responding to you, cause there aint nothing I'm saying that's going to change that opinion.

Oh I agree. The number of times I've read "I love Critical Role, BUT..." is nauseating.

I'll admit that although Exandria isn't that polarizing, CR can be. The Twitterverse drifts between too extremes of "CR is amazing!" and "CR saps all attention from everything TTRPG!"

I think they all have very different bios, and that this book will therefore have a diverse range of cultural inspirations. What are you assuming about them?

I love Candlekeep! Yawning Portal not-so-much, just because it's really just reprinting old adventures for a new edition. That said, I don't think it's bad... though maybe Tomb of Horrors is pretty bad :devilish:.

D&D 5E (2014) Ajit George Talks About Radiant Citadel's Creators

Here's a quote from one of the authors who wrote the first adventure in this book; “My mom is from Thailand, and that’s where largely this adventure is inspired from,” Marie said during a presentation for the press. “With being first-generation, there is this strange duality that you have to...

Heck, I would say someone who grew up in Harlem has a different perspective than someone from Staten Island, and they're the same city!

Ah, I see. Well, the cameo could appear in any of the books theoretically. A cameo could be pretty minor, like an NPC from one setting showing up. So I wouldn't rule that it is coming in one of upcoming books this year.

What, we are calling the 80s cartoon's world a classic setting now?

D&D 5E (2014) Ajit George Talks About Radiant Citadel's Creators

On the contrary, there is some belief that due to POC sometimes having to jump through more hoops to be successful than non-POC, they produce better qualities of work than your average creator. Essentially, they had to do more to get where they are than folks who didn't have to fight against...

I don't think the leaker mentioned the cameo. No one really knows what cameo actually entails here anyway.

You could... I'd be more likely to take the missing crystals and connect them to other settings with full books, like Theros, Ravnica, Eberron, and even Wildemount instead of to Demiplanes, but I believe the purpose is for anyone to add links to whatever worlds they want, including homebrew.

Sorry, does the giant sky-bridge-wall look either practical or possible? I'm saying it makes no sense to criticize one for this but not the other.

D&D 5E (2014) The Next D&D Book is JOURNEYS THROUGH THE RADIANT CITADEL

I'll add on the setting speculation... you could conceivably link some of the 5E Ravenloft Domains to these worlds, being their original Prime Material worlds. I'Cath (Chinese inspired), Kalakeri (India), Kartakass (Louisiana), and Chakuna (South-East Asia) could probably be linked to the worlds...

D&D 5E (2014) The Next D&D Book is JOURNEYS THROUGH THE RADIANT CITADEL

The debate about whether the sky-bridge-wall being "practical" is pretty funny considering Sigil is a massive floating donut above an infinity-tall spire. There's no way that's practical either, but people LOVE it.
