D&D 5E (2014) Sell me on: Midgard by Kobold Press

OP asked for reasons to like Midgard. That is a reason some people have. If you want yet another thread about FR lore and the differences between editions, you can go make that thread.

D&D 5E (2014) Sell me on: Midgard by Kobold Press

The tone in the world books makes the setting seem a little darker/grittier than FR. Probably a bit more like how I’ve heard Greyhawk is, though I have never read much about Greyhawk directly. A whole above-ground nation is ruled by vampires. The underdark is run by the Ghoul Empire. Baba Yaga...

D&D General Who gives demons/devils their (true) name?

The UA with the onomancy wizard had this sidebar about true names: True Names Onomancy, or naming magic, is a method of spellcasting that uses a creature’s true name to enhance a spell’s effects. A true name is the name by which a self-aware creature identifies itself. This name might be the...

D&D 5E (2014) Soulknife Knack problems (Is it incredibly powerful?)

For someone so hung up on wording and RAW, you toss around quotation marks and ungenerous interpretations of others’ words pretty casually. No one ever said “strip their dice.” That was you that said that when you interpreted their attempt to assist you within your desired parameters after other...

D&D 5E (2014) Soulknife Knack problems (Is it incredibly powerful?)

You twice clarify in the original post that you’re asking others for their opinion and interpretation, acknowledging that maybe you’re reading the feature wrong. Despite this, you have spent the rest of the thread arguing with people who present a different opinion than yours and explain to you...

D&D 5E (2014) Eberron Confidential by Keith Baker

So this has no crunch, only secrets for players? While lore is interesting, I’m always much more interested in races and archetypes that I can mine for other uses/settings.

D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Drakewarden and Way of the Ascendant Dragon

But they are intentionally going for books that are useful for both DMs and players. They could have made PHB/MM/DMG 2 at this point but have instead elected to split the material up and call them all X’s Guide to Y. Calling it Deekin’s Guide to Dragons (he could have written it before he died!)...

D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Drakewarden and Way of the Ascendant Dragon

Volo, Durnan, and Mirt manage to survive since the early days, and the Companions of the Hall get reincarnated, but a poor kobold can’t somehow manage to survive/get resurrected? Where’s the justice?!

D&D 5E (2014) World of Alessia - Tell me about it, please!

I got it as a PDF. I’m not sure about the physical editions. Those are probably still being shipped.

    D&D 5E (2014) Tasha digital preorders

I was working under the assumption that Beyond didn’t have all their mechanical ducks in a row for Tasha’s yet. They’ve been working on those alternative class features and stuff and revamping their site to accommodate them since the UA came out last year. I’m not sure they’re completely done...

D&D 5E (2014) World of Alessia - Tell me about it, please!

I got it and read through it. It has a lot of neat ideas, but in reading several of their products, Storm Bunny is still working to really get into a 5e mindset. They keep tacking on systems and adding things in. I participated in an adventure design boot camp they ran a while back, and their...

D&D 5E (2014) Tasha's Cauldron of Everything Speculation: Xanathar's Guide to Every thing Contents Comparison

Don’t forget that Tasha’s will reprint the whole artificer class, probably with its 3 original archetypes and the new armored archetype, plus all the original artificer infusions and some new ones. A whole class plus 4 archetypes and customization options is gonna eat up several pages all on its...

D&D 5E (2014) DMs: Any experience with merging Lost Mines with Icespire Peak?

I am only running LMoP at the moment, but I had considered implementing some of DoIP into it, until I decided to save that stuff for when I actually run that with my group. But I did notice that you could get a decent quest line out of dealing with the orcs.

D&D General Online performance of She Kills Monsters, May 7 at 8pm Eastern

I’m really interested to watch that, but won’t be available then. I’ve read the material on the website, but can’t find if it will be available for viewing later. Do you think that will be the case? I’m inclined to think not, since that could create copyright/licensing issues.

    D&D 5E (2014) [Let's Read] 5e 3rd Party Class Sourcebooks

I love their warmage. Note that they’re currently working on updates to a lot of their classes, including warmage, to put out a Mage Hand Press Player’s Handbook of their most popular races, classes, archetypes, etc.
