They could make a pretty decent melee ranger, too. Favored enemy: plants. Hunting down exotic food.

Do You Want 9 New D&D Classes?

Do You Want 9 New D&D Classes? Critical Role has a pretty tight connection with WotC, and the gunslinger fighter archetype and the blood hunter class were (and still are) some of the most popular items for sale on DMs Guild when Beyond launched. I think that’s the connection that got them...

Do You Want 9 New D&D Classes?

Beyond currently only works with WotC. There had been some discussion of plans to get 3PP in there in the past, but they haven’t talked about that in a while, best I can tell. Not sure if that plan has changed (read: cancelled) or just been pushed way back on their timetable. Putting material...

D&D General D&D Summer School Course

D&D Summer School Course Something like that could keep them occupied, too. Have them look at a character sheet and answer questions about it, maybe? “What number would you add to your roll if you wanted to use your stealth skill?” “What number does the monster have to roll in order to hit...

D&D General D&D Summer School Course

D&D Summer School Course As a school teacher, I’m not confident letting them simply observe is the best thing. That creates down time for them to lose interest and find other things (disruptive and/or destructive) things to do. I would suggest giving them jobs, like looking up rules...

D&D General D&D Summer School Course

Have you checked out this post about running D&D for Boy Scouts? It’s more about doing it in a single, brief session, but it might have some useful ideas for you. http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?659105-Game-Design-Like-a-Boy-Scout-Week-5-Dungeons-amp-Dragons&p=7601228#post7601228

WotC Is Mike Mearls Happy Hour still a thing?

I don’t think Mearls being pulled from public eye would affect that. I think that’s just them doing exactly what I predicted would happen when they moved the date to the end of the month: “We’re gonna try to put one out every month, but if we don’t make it, we’ll try again the next month...

WotC Is Mike Mearls Happy Hour still a thing?

Two caveats before my reply: 1. I have been a casual observer of this incident, starting only after it became a public incident. 2. I don’t condone what Zak did, nor do I have any particular attachment to Mearls. In the several threads and articles I’ve read about this, I’ve seen people...

WotC Is Mike Mearls Happy Hour still a thing?

I’m not picking on him. I never paid a lot of attention to him to begin with, so he didn’t upset me. Just answering the question. Good luck telling the people of the internet to stop holding a grudge though.

WotC Is Mike Mearls Happy Hour still a thing?

As the posts above yours discuss, it seems likely he was asked to keep out of opportunities to open his mouth and sound like he was talking for WotC, and to not poke his head out and rile up the people who were angry with him over the semi-recent controversy.

Paizo To Make Kingmaker Bestiary... For D&D 5E!

The Forest Kingdom book was written and published by Legendary Games, the group that’s doing the 5e conversion for the bestiary. They are first and foremost a PF publisher, and it unfortunately shows in their 5e work.

Paizo To Make Kingmaker Bestiary... For D&D 5E!

And I’d preorder it in a heartbeat if it was. I feel like KP probably has enough of their own stuff going on that they don’t really need Paizo at this point, though.

Paizo To Make Kingmaker Bestiary... For D&D 5E!

Legendary Games has announced that they’ll be doing the 5e conversion of the bestiary. They’re probably best known in 5e for their forest kingdom and pirate/nautical book... both of which are riddled with pathfinder-isms and poor conversions. I was a bit hopeful that this would open up the...

    D&D Player Profile

The form doesn’t really accommodate pbp players. I know we’re a minority even among RPG players, but if people don’t acknowledge our existence, no strides will ever be made to make our existence easier.

Which of these D&D classes would you take if you had to choose one?

The savant and the fatebender are both classes I’ve already considered playing (but haven’t found the right game for them yet). The gemini seems interesting, and I’d consider it. The lodestar seems interesting but requires way more bookkeeping/tactical mapping than I’m up for. The others range...

Morgrave Miscellany: Eberron Sourcebook from Keith Baker

I haven’t bought the book yet - as I mentioned, I was basing that on the multiple reviews (like the one by ChaosOS a few posts above this post and below your post). I’m hesitant to drop that much money on a book with that many worrying reviews. As a semi-side note, I almost never notice poor...

EN5ider #262 - Bullet Wounds and Battle Scars

Except in this article, VP increase equal to your con mod at each level up. They don’t get a die roll to take the average of.

EN5ider #262 - Bullet Wounds and Battle Scars

What happens if a wizard or sorcerer, with a d6 hit die (meaning they can’t split HP from their level up HP into VP) has an 8 in Con? Over time, leveling up seems like it would kill them.

Morgrave Miscellany: Eberron Sourcebook from Keith Baker

I’m still skeptical about the balance of a lot of the races in Wayfinders, and a number of the reviews for this new Miscellany book mention a significant lack of balance in the archetypes. I worry that Keith Baker is ultimately not a 5e designer - that he’s instead one of the many designers for...

Unboxing the Stranger Things D&D Starter Set

Except this sort of crossover material is at least partially intended to get fans of Stranger Things to start playing D&D. Starting at level 1 makes that onboarding easier and makes them more likely to stick around.
