    On the matter of half-orcs

You don't see the difference between rape, which occurs to real people on a regular basis all the time, and getting your soul sucked into a cursed sword, which has never occured to anyone who's ever lived in the history of the universe?

Dragon 372 - Design & Development: The Gnome, the Bad, and The Ugly

That's more a continuation of what they always were than anything else. Just read their 3E MM description. They weren't noble savages there, either.

    Deities and Demigods: Bane

Not the same thing, because she's the same goddess. Lolth is worshipped on both Oerth and Toril, just as Moradin, Corellon, etc, are worshipped on multiple worlds. The same is true of the Mulhorandi Pantheon, whose origins hint to their coming to Faerun from Earth. I don't have a problem with...

    Deities and Demigods: Bane

Problem is that that's the name of an already existing god. What's the point of using the name, and creating a god that's just like him, if they're not the same guy? What's next? Introduce a wizard who exists in the core world named Elminster, who looks and acts just like the Realms version of...

What PHB2 options are you most looking forward to?

I'm especially looking forward to the Avenger, Barbarian, Invoker, Warden, Deva, Gnome, and Half-Orc.

Ravenloft is being folded into the core setting for 4E (Domains of Dread)

That's actually incorrect. There is indication that astral dominions aren't solely inhabited by divine beings in the DMG. From the DMG chapter on the Astral Sea... Not to mention that we've seen evidence of travellers in the astral sea (possibly Astraljamming). Whatever the case...

Ravenloft is being folded into the core setting for 4E (Domains of Dread)

According to Rich Baker, demiplanes do still exist. It'd be pretty strange to say that demiplanes still exist... but not keep the most well-known demiplane as a demiplane. Like I mentioned above, demiplanes still exist. As for where they'd be located, the Astral Sea is the most likely place...

Ravenloft is being folded into the core setting for 4E (Domains of Dread)

Not I. I want to see it as is, a demiplane floating in the Astral Sea dominated by the Dark Powers. We already know demiplanes still exist in 4E, so no reason Ravenloft can't remain a demiplane. And dividing it up loses a lot of what makes it great. Better to be one whole setting then chunks...

    Deva or Aasimar?

Aasimon were the name of angels in 2E. Aasimar was based off of that.

    Deva or Aasimar?

Heh, I'm gonna make a blue-skinned Deva Bard named Plavalaguna. :D Anyway, what stats do people think they should have? Personally I'd like to see them closer to their 2E versions, with Str +2, Wis +2 as opposed to their 3E versions, with Wis +2, Cha +2. Agree? Disagree? Think they should...

Games that didn't survive first contact. . .

After reading all five pages of this thread, I'm STILL laughing at this! :D

    Aasimar are now . . . Devas.

Hate to be serious, but would WotC have to license Transformers to use them? Seeing as how both are owned by Hasbro. I've long wanted a Transformers RPG, so I always thought it was pretty strange that WotC, being owned by Hasbro, which also owns Transformers, never put 2 and 2 together and put...

    Deva or Aasimar?

LOL! Guess we'll have to differ, as I'd rather be an ass-smear than a Queen of the Night. :p My issue with this argument is that Aasimar and Deva aren't the only two words that can be used as a name for this race. It doesn't have to be an either/or proposition if WotC doesn't want it to be...

    Deva or Aasimar?

Is it? I imagine a lot of people, when first confronted by the word, would pronounce it "diva".

D&D 4E WotC takes a playful swipe at 4e haters On The Set of 4E the Red Dragon!

The kobolds were hilarious. "Our beloved leader..." "WE LOVE YOU!"

    Deva or Aasimar?

Isn't that why they're getting rid of the name Aasimar?

    Deva or Aasimar?

Heh, and someone on another board thought I was crazy for thinking that anybody else would start thinking of divas because of the name. But then I come here and I see several posters making those self-same comments. And yep, first time I saw the name the first thing that sprang to mind was Diana...

Ravenloft is being folded into the core setting for 4E (Domains of Dread)

You don't need them to run A game like that. But you do need them to explain why every single country is dominated by a being of oppressive evil, and why each of these lords represents a varying type of evil. That's one of the things that was so great about Ravenloft. All the various domains...

    Deva or Aasimar?

I wish they'd kept it. I really liked that name, and was looking forward to playing a "Celestial Paladin".

Ravenloft is being folded into the core setting for 4E (Domains of Dread)

I'd prefer this over the thought of gutting the campaign setting in some way, which is what I'm terrified of. My fear is that they'll turn it into a setting which is no longer a demiplane, which is no longer hard to escape from, and which has numerous elements from core forced into it (like easy...
