D&D 4E FR 4E SPOILER - Grand Histoy of the Realms info

I like Kelemvor, myself. But yeah, this sucks. I don't see any reason to kill off Helm or Mystra. If anything, Tyr's the one they ought to get rid of. They oughta send him packing back to his original pantheon and make him stay there. Personally, I'd like to see Torm taking over his portfolios...

Points of Light and the Forgotten Realms

What makes you think the timeline will be set 10 years in the future? It's much more likely that it'll be 100 years, at the same point that the events in that sample chapter occur. So no, the future won't be written in stone, as the PC's will be active in the present, not the past.

Points of Light and the Forgotten Realms

How about a Half-Fiend Wizard who rides around on a Nightmare, and who calls himself Venger? ;)

Points of Light and the Forgotten Realms

Nevermind that if it is set 100 years in the future, a lot of those characters will be dead and buried simply due to old age. Humans, Half-Elves, Halflings, Half-Orcs, would all be dead from old age.

    D&D 4E New D&D Podcast: 4E Q&A (9/07/2007)

I'm listening to it, now, and I'm on the social challenges part, which sounds REALLY good, so far. Oh, and Action Points are in. Although they're different from the ones in Eberron.

D&D 4E 4e Special Ability PER Encounter stinks...

Every three Nonheroic levels is equal to one Heroic Level. So a Level 4 Stormtrooper is equivalent to a Level 1 PC. Thus four Stormtroopers is a challenge for four Level 1 PC's.

D&D 4E 4e Special Ability PER Encounter stinks...

Let's assume that every D&D fight lasts 35 rounds. Let's also assume that it takes one minute to recharge Per Encounter abilities. Do you really think anyone's gonna stand there for a third of the fight doing nothing, just to get a Per Encounter ability back? However good their Per Encounter...

The fighter and the paladin pretty well ganged up on the knight & stole his stuff

I didn't like the Knight's Challenge, either, but having it stem from some sort of divine ability would be an excellent idea.

D&D 4E 4e Special Ability PER Encounter stinks...

I wouldn't. All it'd result in is needlessly complicating the game, and requiring a lot of book keeping. I don't want to keep track for the 50 or 100 rounds it'd take if an ability automatically refreshes after 5 or 10 minutes. It's a lot easier to just say at the end of a fight "I'm taking a...

Tomb Under the Tor (New Playtest Report)

The characters were all 1st-level, though, so that might not necessarily mean anything.

    D&D 4E 4E: Saving throws...

Your previous idea would lead to the second happening. If Wands only granted their bonus to one specific spell, then you'd find Wizards walking around wearing bandoliers carrying a dozen different wands. One for each of their most powerful spells. That's a terrible idea, too. What would be...

    Counterattack?

IMO, that Ranger got that shot because of a general rules ability available to all characters, similar to Attacks of Opportunity (It may very well be replacing AoO). We've already seen a similar example in another article. Here we've got two examples of what triggers an Immediate Action...

Yeah, you're right. Been a while since I've played regularly. :(

Tomb Under the Tor (New Playtest Report)

The Ranger had noticed the goblins, and so wouldn't have been flatfooted. The Warlord, Fighter, and Wizard are the ones who would've been caught flat-footed had they been attacked.

Tomb Under the Tor (New Playtest Report)

LOL! Anyway, I was reading it again, and was wondering about this. What spell is that? I'm not overly familiar with spells, but it sounds like Fireball. Could it be that Fireball will be available at 1st-level as a "Per Day" spell (possibly becoming a "Per Encounter" spell after...

Tomb Under the Tor (New Playtest Report)

That sounds like the "Leading the Attack" White Raven combat maneuver. I wonder just how many of the PC's in the 4E PHB looted the Tome of Battle? I prefer Aasimar, actually. But oh well. So long as they're in the PHB I'm not gonna complain. :)

Tomb Under the Tor (New Playtest Report)

No kidding. Best part was the Rogue taking a crit and using Second Wind, only to get slapped with ANOTHER crit!
