Queen of the Demonweb Pits - what's so bad?

I don't think they were going for what would now be considered a Steampunk look and feel specifically, but the spider ship was steam powered and would fit into that genre. It was not a space ship.

Queen of the Demonweb Pits - what's so bad?

If it had been submitted to a magazine that didn't exist at the time? Really? Paizo? The above assertion about Dungeon is already invalid, but this one goes even further down this road. Basically what you're saying here: if Q1 had been done later, it wouldn't have been well-regarded. If Star...

Planning our Vacation to Disneyworld - any advice?

If you really want to maximize your budget, consider staying here: Anaheim Disneyland Resort Hotel | Fairfield Inn Disneyland Hotel This hotel is located across the street from the entrance to the park, literally. I picked some random weekend dates to try to make a reservation, 06 Oct 2011 to...

Queen of the Demonweb Pits - what's so bad?

Forgive me, but one poster's unexplained opinion is pretty thin to begin asking questions about what is so bad about a module when the greater than majority actual opinion of the module over the last 30+ years has been that it is fantastic.

    Unofficial literary LOTR sequel

From the original post: "In 1993, Ring of Darkness is published in Russia. The novel goes on to sell hundreds of thousands of copies, making Perumov one of the pioneers of Russian fantasy." That is copyright theft.

    Unofficial literary LOTR sequel

First, this type of unauthorized copyright theft is the kiss of death in the SF&F publication industry in North America. There isn't a single real publisher who would take it on without the Tolkien estate's authorization. Vanity publishers might, or might not, shy from it; but I think they...

    Syfy cancels Eureka

Amazon.com: Making of Star Trek (9780345340191): Stephen E. Whitfield: Books This source claims that the network was pressuring the studio to do something with the very expensive pilot. I have no idea whether it was right or not.

I post on many message boards. I'm so white and nerdy.

    Syfy cancels Eureka

The Cage was the original pilot for Star Trek, not something created in case production ran over. To me, it's real name is ComWorthless. It comes as little surprise that they now own SyFy channel.

    Loot protection spells?

When I first read the topic title, I thought it said Lord Protection Spells, and I was thinking to myself, "A Rolemaster discussion on EnWorld, that doesn't happen too often." I must have played too much Rolemaster back in the day.

    The Wizard and the Wyrdpack

People who displayed skills of "magic" in medieval Europe were burned at the stake, if they weren't killed during capture first. The fox, wolf, and dog getting along would send all sorts of alarm bells ringing in the minds of superstitious commoners, and local priests and lords. The whole CSI...

    Is D&D Art?

I thought the "trash" comment meant you did not like them. My apologies. If someone looked at them and thought they were, they would be. A wild flower is not a product of skill, not if it grew up in the wild, anyway. Cultivated flower beds and all arrangements are examples of art. It's not a...

    Is D&D Art?

I was thinking the same thing. I don't see the art label as being a disservice. You don't like them. That does not mean they aren't art. In the same breath where you state the referenced items aren't art, you are also praising them as art. What do you think aesthetic appreciation is all...

    Can someone explain....

I was thinking that 40K's RPG combat was a great deal like d20. Both have full and half actions, and both have a list of various combat maneuvers that can be performed that grant various bonuses and/or penalties. I was right at home reading through it.

    Is D&D Art?

Art is not narrowly defined, it is broadly defined. Art is any product of skill sufficient to produce emotional impact. D&D qualifies.

    Knights of Badassdom

I'll just admit it. This movie's style is not for me. I view this movie as being in the same category as the Dungeons and Dragon's movie: half-camp, half-facetiousness. I prefer Ladyhawke.
