Pathfinder 2E Another Deadly Session, and It's Getting Old

Traps in PF2 hit above their weight class because they're balanced to be "speed bumps" that the party follows up with about of healing. If a simple trap figures as part of an encounter, I include complex trap XP instead of simple trap XP which is 80% lower, and I include it in the Encounter's...

Pathfinder 2E Another Deadly Session, and It's Getting Old

If it feels tuned too high, perhaps everyone can agree to tune things down a level? There's no shame in doing so. Despite PF2's balance, I found (at least at the lowest levels) that certain party makeups are going to have a harder time. And it's a game at the end of the day. And I agree with...

I only discovered this online tool recently, but it looks like the Subreddit for Pathfinder 2e has been steadily growing, with an uptick of interest since the APG's release: Subreddit Stats - statistics for every subreddit

Pathfinder 2E Is this a fair review of PF2?

I posted the video for the original topic of this thread: whether PuffinForest is giving a fair review of PF2. His "combat example" from PF2 complains about the potential situational modifiers that goes into one attack. But 4E is swimming in modifiers that come from the use of powers. I HAVE...

Pathfinder 2E Is this a fair review of PF2?

Puffin Forest video ranted about PF2 is too complex, and now he runs a 4E one shot? So I'm not sure where he's coming from:

Pathfinder 2E Release Day Second Edition Amazon Sales Rank

If they are indeed hiring, then that would mean they are larger than during any time during 1e, and during covid. Impressive.

Pathfinder 2E Release Day Second Edition Amazon Sales Rank

I honestly don't know if a consensus can be reached on how to "fix" 1e, while keeping what people who are sticking to 1e like about 1e. And it would need to do this "fixing" while staying compatible with the content 1e players already possess.

    Pathfinder 2E Pace of fighting

I don't deny that players of casters would give up on casting those spells against higher-level creatures, but I do question whether that's wise. I've seen making a scary brute creature blind, even for just 1 round, negating 1 or 2 scary crits and hits and knockout on more than 1 occasion, and...

    Pathfinder 2E Pace of fighting

The way the math works in PF2, a creature 3 levels higher than the party hits like a truck. You definitely feel like it's dishing out nearly as much damage as your entire party combined, and that each of you can only chip away at it. A crit will take a character from full health down to 0. In...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e: Actual Play Experience

Yes, awarding Hero Points 1/hour and reminding my players to use them for rerolls and to stabilize, moved the game from Dark-Souls-punishing bordering on feeling unfair, to tough and exciting. They are a default rule so definitely use them.

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder Bestiary 2 Preview

Oh, yay, it looks exactly like the same things they did with PF1. On top of that, they're trying to be 5E. AND just repeat what they did with PF1. Yeah.

To the OP who was interested in simulated high level play, check out this guy's reports over at the Paizo forums. High level play sounds dramatic and exciting without getting as bogged down as PF1: https://paizo.com/threads/rzs42poa?Level-20-Test

Roll20 Reports First Drop For D&D

Can there be a Pathfinder 1E tag instead of a generic "Pathfinder" tag, just there is a "2E" tag? The 2 systems are quite different, and the current labels might be causing some confusion.

As it turns out, hiding requires cover.

Actually in 2e someone behind another creature is "screened." Perhaps this is why a different word is used, to limit the ability to hide behind someone?

D&D General Ed Greenwood: How The Realms Began

This was so evocative and inspiring! I especially love your childhood "first glimpse" into the Realms! I was exposed to the Forgotten Realms via the computer games and didn't make much of them. But reading your words makes me see why they would have inspired and enjoyed by so many!

It’s LAUNCH DAY For The Pathfinder 2 Playtest!

Yes, though the terminology the Rulebook uses is "proficiency modifier" which COMBINES level with proficiency rank... It saves on verbiage throughout the book, but it's pretty opaque to people new to the system.
