D&D 5E (2014) Has the culture of campaigns change, re: homebrew vs. pre-published?

I dunno about the culture, but I always recommend a DM run a pre-published campaign for at least the first 1-3 campaigns before trying to tackle a homebrew one, speaking from experience.

WotC Check out Magic: the Gathering's Tiamat

Damn. That's pretty. I hope they put all this art up on the website so I can use it for my campaigns...

News Digest for the Week of April 30

I did, yes. Might I suggest getting in touch with Paizo and perhaps seeing about a partnership? I devour all their campaigns and run them myself, so perhaps getting their campaigns as some of the premade campaigns for Voxstory. Or at least monster models for their Bestiaries.

I am in every way ready for Voxstory.

WotC WotC Generates 75% Of Hasbro's Profit

If its bad, I don't think it'll be for lack of acting talent. Writing talent, maybe, but I'm cautiously not expecting the worst.

D&D General [Poll] How do you prefer psionics to work?

Here's some fluff I had previously worked out. Never did anything with it.

D&D General [Poll] How do you prefer psionics to work?

I've got ideas for how Psionics would work, but I just don't have time to work on it. Work sucks.

    D&D 5E (2014) Most Interesting Dervish Build?

Might I also suggest, just for the purposes of a ridiculous amount of attacks, the Echo Knight fighter. Its a little strange, but bear with me: The Echo Knight gets an extra attack as a resource, like 3-5 times a long rest, but it doesn't require a bonus action. So, potentially, you can get...

D&D 5E (2014) [Merged] Candlekeep Mysteries Author Speaks Out On WotC's Cuts To Adventure

Seems like it. There's a whole thread on reddit about it, too.

Candlekeep Mysteries Review Round-Up – What the Critics Say

I gotta say I was impressed by the book. The adventures are short, yes; but mysteries are in short supply in D&D and I have a soft spot for them.

D&D 5E (2014) Poll: What adventures would you want officially updated for 5E

Ugh, Age of Worms, yes, please. And Shackled City and Savage Tides.

D&D General Gameplay Trailer for D&D Dark Alliance Video Game

Dragon Age did the party dynamic pretty well, as does, at least in my opinion, Baldur's Gate 3. I sincerely hope that BG3, when all is said and done, isn't the only game like it that comes out for D&D settings.

D&D General Gameplay Trailer for D&D Dark Alliance Video Game

Oh my God, give me that game. Need it. So bad. As long as it uses a similar gameplay mechanic to Origins or Odyssey, though. Can't stand to play anything before Syndicate (and Syndicate was a great story with a naughty word system).

D&D 5E (2014) Do You Prefer Sandbox or Party Level Areas In Your Game World?

Yeah, I mix and match as needed. My current campaign is more of the Party variety with little in the way of Sandbox options. My last campaign was almost 100% Sandbox; there were plot elements, but they were contingent on the characters doing things. If they were too high level for it to be a...

D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana: Folk of the Feywild!

I solve the flight issue by using variant encumbrance! The hop is silly. Just let them take a bonus action to hop a certain distance, say half their normal walking speed that doesn't count as movement, and call it a day.

D&D 5E (2014) Perception, Passive Perception, and Investigation

In my games, it breaks down like this: Passives: Passive scores are your minimum; i.e. you can't roll lower than your passive. I do it this way because I can apply it to all skills; your wizard rolled a 7 Arcana, but your "passive" is 16, so you still get something for having taken that...

D&D 5E (2014) Dragonborn breath prof per day; does it work?

I dunno. Having thought about it today, I think that--you know, being dragonborn--the dragonborn should be able to use the breath weapon more often than once per short or long rest. I have not come up with a satisfactory way of balancing it, though.

D&D 5E (2014) Dragonborn breath prof per day; does it work?

I think it'd be fine, personally. I have a dragonborn in my game that never uses their breath weapon, simply because he's playing a sorcerer and gets more mileage out of things like lightning bolt (iirc, he's used it once, back at level 3 during the second session, and not once since then). In...
