    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Wizard vs the World

You're not flying 600 ft up in a demiplane. So your all powerful sorcerer isn't of legendary importance?

The wizard can just dispel the summon. Legend Lore can get the true name.

Compared to your plans to Geas everyone you meet, except for the ones you kill with Finger of Death to make zombies? Really?

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Wizard vs the World

Why would the wizard end up killing himself? Your entire argument here doesn't really make any sense.

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Wizard vs the World

Completely ignored my first question on why a wizard is unable to get non-mercenary servants, when kings and lords are able to do so. Secondly, while it is possible a mercenary group may turn on the wizard for their fortune, their is a huge risk in doing so. First, the wizard manages to just...

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Wizard vs the World

Why would the wizard not be able to get allies? And even if the wizard hires mercenaries, why would they betray the guy who is paying them?

I actually just realized that True Polymorph isn't really a great gold producer anyway upon rereading the spell. It can, but the wizard is probably better working a different angle anyway.

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Wizard vs the World

Hmm, maybe I didn't explain that well. I wasn't suggesting double crossing anyone you hire. Rather, that if you're using True Polymorph to make gold, as was suggested earlier in the thread, you don't actually need to have a ton of gold sitting around. Which should reduce the temptation for any...

While charmed sure. After the Geas is broken, they could come to the conclusion that they were magically effected, even if they are not sure how.

Maybe. I think it would be a rare individual who would willingly go for the indefinite 9th lvl version though. Also, the fact that it is a 5th lvl spell probably makes them less common than a background check.

We've discussed this. It doesn't know you casted the Mind Spike, but it knows it took damage. It doesn't know you casted Dominate, but it knows it is charmed and that it can't attack you because of that. And that you can order it around.

Possibly, but I did not get that impression from Hohige, because in that case it doesn't matter if you have Psionic Spells or not.

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Wizard vs the World

Killing your employer as a mercenary seems like a pretty bad decision. Especially when said employer doesn't need to keep a fortune, since they can make the payment on the spot. And if they break concentration before the first hour after paying you, your fortune goes poof. On the other hand...

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Wizard vs the World

To be fair, Hohige has stated that a 20th lvl Sorcerer would do it better at some points, although at other points it is an 11th lvl Sorcerer stopping the wizard, so yah, I guess it is easy to mix up.

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Wizard vs the World

I didn't mention casting with sorcery points, but again, the Geas can be broken with a 3rd lvl spell. A 5th lvl character can unravel your "perfect" minions. And it is possible to figure out who is casting the Geas by a little deductive reasoning. You know people are getting Geased. After...

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Wizard vs the World

I like sorcerers, but honestly, in this kind of scenario the sorcerer is so far behind it's not funny. Let's look at your own proposed tricks before I talk about wizards specifically. The Geas trick is easily detected(Detect Magic-1st lvl Spell) and nearly as easily removed(Remove Curse-3rd lvl...

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Wizard vs the World

The big thing I think the wizard needs to do is avoid putting a target on their back. The Aberrant sorcerer, the clerics I brought up, they could maybe win in a cage fight, but the smart wizard isn't going to let it come to that. The wizard has the best toolbox for manipulating things on a large...

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Wizard vs the World

The hut can just be dispelled and then the wizard literally murders the sorcerer in his sleep. It's not really a thing.

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Wizard vs the World

Even assuming that you can convince people to do so, which isn't a given since there has to be a chance they believe you, it's not going to help with the still alive people who will start to realize that anytime someone is promised "immortality" they end up disappearing/becoming a zombie...

    D&D 5E (2014) 20th level Wizard vs the World

The more enemies you have, the more chances one of them finds the chink in your armor. As for my first thought on problems that could arise for the 20th lvl Wizard, any cleric of 10th lvl or higher can try to use Divine Intervention to cause problems.
