    How do you pronunce "grognard"?

I say MEH-lay and GRON-yard, not that I've ever said the second word, but it  looks French, so i automatically interpret it in the same way as Cro Magnon or filet mignon.

3PP Release (3rd Party Book Release) Paranormal Power: A Psionics Option for 5e and A5e, written by Steampunkette!

You don't get the Cthulhu overtones or body horror implicit with the illithids mind flayers, but the niche seems otherwise filled. :)

3PP Release (3rd Party Book Release) Paranormal Power: A Psionics Option for 5e and A5e, written by Steampunkette!

I certainly needed temporally-displaced psionic lizard-folk in my life. They're a good replacement for mind flayers. :D

It's almost as if YouTube  knows that we're both into the RPG scene. ;)

D&D General Has the OGL/WotC debacle motivated you to create your own Fantasy Heartbreaker or homebrew?

So, I was looking at your rules (chiefly the simplified spells, to be fair) and noticed that in the magic items section, you mention persistent items such as gauntlets of ogre power, but the only items you actually define are all consumable. Why's that?

WotC To Give Core D&D Mechanics To Community Via Creative Commons

Holy men being able to repel spirits and demons is ripped straight out of Christian (and even Persian) folklore. The concept is over 1000 years old at this point.

Why We Should Work With WotC

“When someone shows you who they are believe them the first time.” (Maya Angelou) WotC won't put in safeguards to ensure it won't happen again, because they already don't want to be bound by safeguards. The outright lies of the last week should have shown you that, if nothing else.

Over 1,500 Publishers Support Paizo's Upcoming Open RPG Creator's License

Well, it's not 1990 any more. Whether or not they care about the OGL is another matter, but with YouTube, Twitter, Tiktok and the like all recommending things based on algorithms, I can't imagine that there are many role-players who haven't at least heard of the debacle.

WotC To Give Core D&D Mechanics To Community Via Creative Commons

If they add all previous SRDs to CC, and CC really is forever, that's 90% of the issues gone immediately.

WotC Talks OGL... Again! Draft Coming Jan 20th With Feedback Survey; v1 De-Auth Still On

This assumes that WotC are dealing in good faith. They can promise anything they like, but as long as they claim the right to "update" the terms after you're locked in, literally nothing they say can be believed.

The simple answer is that's not what happened. The longer answer is that Western European languages are in love with Latin, and that simplifying spellings doesn't always have the ideal outcome. See  oistros -> oestrus -> estrus, with the pronunciation changing each time.

No one would pronounce revoke correctly if it was spelt with a C, as in the Latin  revocare, so it's spelt with a K to match its pronunciation. ;)
