    Paizo Announces Starfinder 2nd Edition

in my opinion the game feels over designed. It feels constraining and very tight. That tightness extends beyond just the math. And the math. I appreciate that encounter balance means something. That the CR system works. That said, in my opinion, the jack-in-the-box effect is see alot is...

    Paizo Announces Starfinder 2nd Edition

In house game development becomes simpler for them. Single development team moving forward. Lots of business advantages. I can’t blame them.

    Paizo Announces Starfinder 2nd Edition

Guess I’ll start completing my SF1e physical collection. I’m currently giving PF2 for third time (not 3rd session, third attempt at a fair shake). I still have the same issues I had the first two times and moving SF to the same systems might kill that for me.

    D&D 4E D&D 4E fans: what do you like about 4E?

Everything mentioned up thread with an emphasis on monsters being fun and cool. The monster stat blocks just worked with everything I needed right there.

    SWADE Fantasy Companion

I’ve been messing with a Savage Blades in the Dark hack for a couple years now. The simplest things I came up with was a 4 was a ‘yes but ‘ partial success and an ace was a full success. It’s not a great solution but I think it would probably work. Regarding the Fantasy Companion, I’ve used...

How VTT Automation Exacerbates D&D Market Control

What platform are you using? We’ve use the automation present for GURPS, WHFRP 4e and PF2 and for some time now I’ve felt the automation and clicks just slows things down.

How VTT Automation Exacerbates D&D Market Control

This is so true. I’ve added some new people to my regular group but they never stay long and not D&D is inevitably one of the reasons. I don’t run 5e at all beyond trying it early on for a few sessions. It can make finding players, and retaining them, more difficult.

D&D General Eberron: recommend an edition

I’d run the permitted Savage Worlds conversion. The guy who’s wrote it does a podcast with Keith Baker. If you like Davagw Worlds it’s great stuff. You’d still need to pick an edition to get your background material from but mechanically Savage Worlds really fits what Eberron wants to do.

Pathfinder 2E Confession: I Want to Run PF2 But I Don't Want to Learn It

He’s right. The PF2 Foundry implementation is fantastic. It will do alot of the lifting for you. Even more if you are planning to run one of the PF2 officially implemented Adventure Paths. I’m currently running their official Abomination Vaults and honestly the ease of prep it totally worth...

Pathfinder 2E Confession: I Want to Run PF2 But I Don't Want to Learn It

It runs easier than it reads. I had more exciting college textbooks. That said it isn’t really hard on play. If you like short videos the How It’s Played channel on YouTube is fantastic for illustrating specific pieces of the rules from the basics up. When I’m reviewing something while...

    Unpopular opinions go here

‘Sandbox’ games and other style games that purport to allow players ‘agency’ are a fallacy. Players can only interact with what the DM/GM allows them to interact with. At least scripted games, railroaded games are honest about the experience.

The made RIFTS for Savage Lands? Huh.

Correct. I also backed the KS. It’s not a bad cyberpunk game in its own right. It’s got some merit as a cyberpunk toolkit too.

The made RIFTS for Savage Lands? Huh.

On topic the Savage Worlds port of RIFTS is really good and actually playable. It’s still gonzo over the top but it’s actually gameable in a coherent way and fits the Savage Worlds game very well.

The made RIFTS for Savage Lands? Huh.

You have two options for this. Sprawlrunners and Interface Zero 3.0. Sprawlrunners gives you everything you need for a light game that actual SR. IF0 is on the crunchy end of the Savage Worlds experience.

Pathfinder 2E Getting started with PF2

I use a magnetic fry erase board from Walmart. It’s poster board sized. We have magnets with character names for party members and then blank with dry erase surface on the we can write the mobs name on.
