Pathfinder 2E Getting started with PF2

Self hosting isn’t a huge issues. There are several tutorials on YouTube that explain it. I host through The Forge. It’s pretty seamless and it’s a flat annual fee. Send your players the game link. They log into Forge. The player accounts are free. Only hoster pays the annual fee.

Pathfinder 2E Running Abomination Vaults: SPOILERS!

we just started chapter 2. I gave my players some information about Belcorra in the context of the founding of Otari and the Roseguard. Basically just the first couple of paragraphs from the intro in chapter one, stripped of anything about her return. Now that my characters have enters the...

WFRP 4th Edition - How the game has evolved.

The career system is as flexible or binding as you want. I generally let my players move between careers as long as there is a sliver of narrative sense to be had. I’m other cases restrict movement into careers or between careers if it didn’t make any sense for the narrative. You can also...

WFRP 4th Edition - How the game has evolved.

4th has done a lot to eliminate the whiff factor for. Prior editions. The advantage mechanics, as well as the way the opposed combat mechanics function ensure someone is nearly always taking damage or a condition. I tend to find that way fights are fairly short, suitably vicious, and once one...

WFRP 4th Edition - How the game has evolved.

There are still ways to min/max characters. The number of options is tremendous when you consider the ability to move between careers. The game become a system mastery game if you want it to be. That said I have the most fun when I embrace the what makes the setting tick; a group of regular...

WFRP 4th Edition - How the game has evolved.

If your looking for a one shot tester I'd highly recommend Night of Blood. It's a classic.

WFRP 4th Edition - How the game has evolved.

I have to agree with everything @TheSword has said. I really like WHFRP 4e, as does everyone in my group not exclusively interested in power fantasy. I love that randomly generating characters is awarded with bonus XP. I didn't have personal advantage but next time I run it will definitely be...

Introducing a new group to PF2 vs. 4E?

Judging from the next post I'd say your right. I love WHFRP 4e and @TheSword is correct the changes in Up in Arms and Winds of Magic are great quality of life improvements.. When my Death on the Reik game resumes I'll be using them.

Introducing a new group to PF2 vs. 4E?

I’m guessing it’s a reference to Essentials. When I run 4e I drop the feat taxes and just let them have the math fix feats for free at 1st level. As I recall the online tools have the errata baked in already so that won’t be an issue. Iif it turns out you need the WotC 4e errata PDFs let me...

Introducing a new group to PF2 vs. 4E?

Savage Pathfinder an option? Tactical. Non combat characters still have a combat role. Base resolution is pretty light. Monsters are easy to tune in advance or on the fly. Minions/extras built in. Rise of the Runelords available immediate. Curse of the Crimson Theon available this year. Above...

Introducing a new group to PF2 vs. 4E?

Is A5e an option? A bit more to it. Better monster design better tools. Same basic game.

Introducing a new group to PF2 vs. 4E?

the online tools are accessible but you have to work through the 4e discord server to get the most out of them. One issue is VTT play. If this were a live group I’d go with 4e. If it’s an online group I’d go with PF2. There are some good suggestions out there for dealing with the combat...

Investigate Heretics & More In Warhammer’s Gritty New 40K Setting

Super excited. I ordered IM and have been going through the pdf. I’m waiting for the beginner box to actually run it. If I were going to give it a go now I’d use the DH 1e for setting material and adventures.

    Rules Light Modern RPG

A follow up. The newest version of BRP was released this month as well. It’s the same system behind Call or Cthulhu and Runequest in addition to other games. I’d probably describe it as rules medium, but it is a solid generic system to power modern games as well as other eras. Also open...

    Rules Light Modern RPG

Savage Worlds or Gumshoe/Nights Black Agents would be my choice. Cypher might work. I’m sure you could find a Fate as well. I’d go with Savage Worlds personally but NBA would probably be my second choice. I’ve never really looked at Modern Age but it might be an option as well.

Who Actually Has Time for Bloated Adventures?

Restarting my Iron Gods game this week and have decided I’m ruthlessly cutting anything that’s not (1) directly plot related or (2) adds something interesting along the way. I’ll be combing encounters so it’s not an endless string of 2 or 3 mobs per room. Enlarging the the play space to...

    Non-gaming hobbies

Woodworking, mostly hand tools with traditional joinery. I make furniture. Mostly boxes, chests, tables, things of that nature. I have a solid cherry end table on my bench now and a large kumiko panel. I read a lot. Mostly alt history, sci fi, fantasy , and woodworking books. I also play...

D&D General When is the last time you DMed a game?

Usually every Wednesday, but I’m taking a break until April 12th or so. So it’s been two weeks. If my Friday night PF2 game makes I’ll run in three days.
