D&D General Which era and style/flavor of the Forgotten Realms do you play in?

My players are all new to the Realms and neither know, nor care, that there are different FR eras. I more or less ignore the established timeline and use content from different FR sources going back to the grey box - basically mixing together whatever seems most interesting with liberal dollops...

D&D 5E (2014) With the release of each new setting book, the SCAG looks worse and worse...

This is why I like the idea of alternate cover books only being available through bricks and mortar stores rather than Amazon and the like. I'd generally rather pay a bit more and support a FLGS.

    D&D 5E (2014) Ed Greenwood's Border Kingdoms Now Available (& Official!)

There's mention of Under Illefarn Anew on the Candlekeep forums at least as far back as 2013 - possibly longer. I don't think it was initially written with the intent of publishing, let along sharing to the wider community. It's a massive undertaking if it was only meant for a home campaign...

    D&D 5E (2014) Ed Greenwood's Border Kingdoms Now Available (& Official!)

That would be superb. I was just reading Illefarn Anew earlier this week and a 5e version would save me doing the conversion work. (y)

    AD&D 2E Edition Experience - Did/Do you Play AD&D 2E? How Was/Is It?

I have fond memories of 2e - it and 1e were the editions that I played the most. Some of the rules were quite janky but there were some glorious supplements published.

OD&D Editon Experience: Did/Do you Play B/X? How Was/Is It?

B/X was my first RPG. A friend got it for his birthday, was disappointed it was just a couple of booklets and some weird dice and sold it to me for that week's pocket money. Bargain! I roped in a bunch of friends to play The Keep of the Borderlands and we ended up playing for the next ten...

OD&D Edition Experience: Did/Do You Play OD&D? How Was/Is It?

By the time I became aware of D&D, the successors to the white box were on the shelves. I've never had an opportunity to play it, but likewise own the reprint and would love to run a one-shot or mini campaign just out of curiosity.

    OD&D Edition Experience: Did/Do you Play BECM/RC D&D? How Was/Is It?

I started with the Moldvay Basic magenta box and played that for a year or two before looking to "upgrade". The local toy shop stocked a whole load of RPGs at the time and I seem to remember looking at the various BECMI boxes and the 1e core books with the new Jeff Easley covers that had just...

WHAT NEW MINIATURES YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE MADE?

There's more choice than ever before. Between the various Wizkids lines and Reaper Bones stuff you can get the vast majority of mins you may need for a fairly low price. So although coverage is great, I would love to see more minis that match the aesthetics I like. That's mainly:- Female...

Three Dragon Ante : Legendary Edition

Have been waiting for this to be restocked for a while. Seemingly went out of stock everywhere before I picked up a copy. Edit: ....aaaaand my backorder has finally been fulfilled so I'm looking forward to playing this.

I think this is a reference to The Crown of Earlann?

    D&D 3.x Edition Experience - Did/Do you Play 3rd Edtion D&D? How Was/Is it?

3e is the only major edition that I've never played. Nothing to do with the rules and purely down to it coming along during a time when my gaming group had drifted away and I couldn't find any other players. Dark times!

D&D 5E (2014) With the release of each new setting book, the SCAG looks worse and worse...

I quite like SCAG, but it does look a little thin when compared to more recent sourcebooks. There's such a huge amount of FR lore at this point that it makes sense to break new 5e material into regional books. I'd like to see more options than just the Sword Coast make it to print - whether...

How do you read your TTRPG books?

Depends on the book. I'll occasionally buy books for new systems, or a new version of a system I like, just to read for pleasure. If it's not something I'm planning to run, I tend to randomly leaf through looking for ideas I can use, reading sections of fluff and checking out the art. For...

    D&D 5E (2014) Ed Greenwood's Border Kingdoms Now Available (& Official!)

That's similar to my thinking. I'm planning to run a series of classic modules mixed with some homebrew adventures and have been looking for a relatively unused corner of the Realms to use as a backdrop.

    D&D 5E (2014) Ed Greenwood's Border Kingdoms Now Available (& Official!)

Is there a listing of which other DMs Guild content has been similarly "officially approved"?

Sounds like an interesting addition to the Realms, I might have to pick this up.
