D&D 5E (2024) WotC Reveals The Confirmed Release Dates of 2024's D&D Slate

Has anybody got a link to WotC's actual press release? Nevermind, I see it. Something I haven't seen before: Descent into the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth is now described as a "free excerpt from an adventure in" Quests from the Infinite Staircase. Previously, it was not presented as being part...

D&D 5E (2014) What, if anything, bothers you about certain casters/spells at your table?

You make that sound like more work than it is. You just roll behind the screen, and ask the player what their AC is.

D&D 5E (2014) What, if anything, bothers you about certain casters/spells at your table?

Shield is way less of a problem if the players can’t see the DM’s rolls. And I don’t mean the DM should fudge. But the characters should have no way of knowing whether it is “worth” spending the spell slot.

D&D 5E (2014) What, if anything, bothers you about certain casters/spells at your table?

I think there is a very specific issue with the necromancer wizard just not being a very good/flavorful "necromancer." I am starting a campaign now with a player who wants to play a necromancer character, and looking at the options, the Undead patron warlock, the College of Spirits bard, the...

D&D 5E (2014) What, if anything, bothers you about certain casters/spells at your table?

In 5E isn't this is ONLY an "issue" with wizards? Artificers, clerics, and druids still need to prepare ritual spells (and thus not prepare something else) in order to cast them. Bards always have all their spells prepared, but still have to sacrifice knowing another spell in order to have a...

D&D 5E (2014) What, if anything, bothers you about certain casters/spells at your table?

Aid - generally a book-keeping annoyance Any of the increasing number of spells and abilities that grant temporary hit points. Not sure why the designers are in love with temp hit points lately. They’re a pain. Twilight Cleric’s twilight sanctuary ability. At levels 3-6, trivializes many...

D&D General 50th Anniversary- Are You Not Entertained?

I think it's very premature to declare now, on February 9, that the entire 50th Anniversary year was botched. I do think it's fair to say that we've started off the year with whatever the opposite of a bang is.

D&D General Top selling 5E official non-core 3 books? / Why aren't adventure books catching fire?

There's stuff in Candlekeep that you'll like. Check out "Shemshime's Bedtime Rhyme" and "A Deep and Creeping Darkness."

Witchlight is very much not for everyone but if it is for you, it does what it sets out to do if that makes sense.

I kind of agree but IMO there have been pleasant surprises since Tasha's, namely... Candlekeep Mysteries = great Wild Beyond the Witchlight = very good Keys from the Golden Vault = great Book of Many Things = great

https://alphastream.org/index.php/2023/09/25/how-dd-sells-and-what-it-means-for-the-hobby/ The supplementary sourcebooks (Xanathar's, Tasha's, Volo's) definitely outsell setting books. But there's some evidence that setting books do slightly outsell adventures - kinda. The best-selling...

D&D Movie/TV Joe Manganiello: Dragonlance TV Show No Longer In Development

Regarding the Dragonlance show, I would bet that Honor Among Thieves performing below expectations had more to do with killing it than the board game sales. "Let's try this again, but with a less popular setting!" doesn't exactly sell itself.

The Creature Case actually wasn't in the Ollie's Fire sale fwiw, just the other two. The terrain case and creature case bundles were also created AFTER those two products got solo releases; I think they were already performing below expectations and that's what prompted the creation of those...

D&D General 50th Anniversary- Are You Not Entertained?

Q1 ends at the end of March. If they were going to “sneak in” a book publication before then, we would definitely know that by now. However, the digital-only Descent into Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth might make Q1. Of course, the only reason we know that is because a DM mentioned he’s running it...

They showed up in clearance stores because people didn’t buy them. That’s what he meant when he said they “performed poorly.”

    D&D 5E (2014) What should I steal from these 5e adventure books? (+)

Almost any individual level of DoMM will stand alone as a very solid dungeon in and of itself, and will get you a fun 2-4 sessions of play with some decent, if simple, internal story hooks and factions. The maps themselves, however, are not visually impressive (several better versions of the...
