Speculation, companies like Blizzard have CGI Studios and they cost a ton of money. I highly doubt Larian would allocate a major part of funding towards building their own studio.

It is Baldurs Gate. Baldurs Gate is defined by the RTwP system. I am not playing Baldurs Gate to simulate a tabletop game of D&D 5e, I can do that at my table. D&D should be used to enhance & flavor the PC game not force it into a straight jacket.
