    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Rules Oddities (Kibbles’ Collected Complaints)

Rules updates usually happen halfway through the life cycle of an edition, so we probably will get 6e on D&D's 60th anniversarry.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Rules Oddities (Kibbles’ Collected Complaints)

Thanks. I do find it kinda funny to know I can now theoretically punch an opponnent almost 0 feet away, at the cost of possible rules debate.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Rules Oddities (Kibbles’ Collected Complaints)

I am using in this scenario Pushing Attack Maneuver, not push weapon mastery.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Rules Oddities (Kibbles’ Collected Complaints)

I have a question about new rules: Let's assume I have an 8th level Warrior of the Open Hand Monk. I have taken feats Charger and Crusher and DM allowed me to use Martial Adept as an Origin Feat to get Superior Technique and picked Pushing Attack. I am dashing towards an oppponnent as an...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

So now we have a combination of "no, u!" and still trying to goad me into the changing of terms of debate in a way that would let you feel in control. It's clear you are not approaching this with respect for the other side and are not debating with good faith, making the whole thing pointless.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

Then you should be able to and that is what should be fixed about the game. You're now acting like a schoolyard bully in a movie for 10 years old kids. "What's the matter, are you a chicken?" Are you going to start doing chicken dance and make clucking noises next? Is that the level of...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

Discussion about solving martial-caster imbalance deserves its own thread and it's silly to expect me to come with an answer in the middle of another discussion, that is only tangentially related. Also, the casters have exactly the same amount of spell slots. They're more eager to use them to...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

If you force casters to waste their resources - spell slots - on boring utiltiy spells, they will use them, completely overshadowing any mundane class that could do the same things, because otherwise it will feel like wasting resources. And then they will use whatever spell slots remain to...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

Except it doesn't and never have solved the issue of casters being owerpowered. It in no way solves the fact casters can do much more than martials. hell, it enforces it because if you force caster to prepare all the utility spells, they probably are going to outshine rogue AND fighter at the...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

So that means I now have to either remember an increasing number of problems I have to adress and solve beforehand, whichwere not problems before or just sacrifice what I consider some of best times of roleplaying with my players to instead make world feel less real, less lived-in, less...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

And for the price of flavor fail that causes a powerful archmage to suddenly forget basic utility spells and caster players SITTING ON THER ASSES NOT DOING ANYTHING IN COMBAT because they had to put all these utility spells into their spell slots. And price of arguments about who takes what...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

For me it sounds like isntead of having clear idea what kind of NPC will be recurring in the game and being able to shape the plot in accordance with player actions, now I will have to waste two levels being coy or setting things up, only for the player to never commit past level 2 or ignore...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

The idea of Free Trial here in itself strikes me as flavor fail. I can do character dealing into occult through roleplay on the way before PC takes first Warlock level, when I play Warlock or DM a Warlock, I expect that to be someone who made a deal with a powerful entity, not Netflix.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

The problem is that the last three editions of D&D aren't balanced for playing without magic items and in at least two of them martial classes needed magic items to keep up with casters. It also tend to be nonsensical when you try to pretend magic items are rare in this gme, considering how many...

    D&D 5E (2024) Fixing General Feats

Still need to work out specifics. Let me start with Favorite Feats: Favorite Feats is an additioonal feature for Barbarians, Monks, Ranges and Paladins, which they gain at 1st Level. Each of the 4 classes has list of Favorite Feats that, if they select them, grants them additional +1 increase...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

Because in 3e all PCs were stacked with magic items and the game was balanced to make sure they need them. And every PC looked like a christmas tree of trinkets and it felt they no longer earn their victories, they toys do it. Kinda similiar to one of many beefs I have with Batman, who also...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

Monk got dex to attacks before and it was a necessity for it, getting it to grapples is not enough to keep up with vesritality gained by weapon mastery, especially when grapple in 5e doesn't do anything without having knocked the target prone first. And it's only worse tat so much in barbarian...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

So Barbarian is banned at your table? And Monk? And Fighter? And you never use resting rules, if you lose HP, the character only gets them back after years of rehabilitation and you still impose penalties for more severe injuries?

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

Warlock's relationship with their patron is such a key roleplaying component it's stupid to push it away and spend two levels pretending you have no idea who your patron is. I can actually see reasons why Paladin, Druid or Bard need to prove themselves before being accepted to a group within...

    D&D 5E (2024) Fixing General Feats

Okay, so here is what problem I have with General Feats in...whatever we call this edition now, 5.24? 5.5? ODD, sort for One D&D? Nevermind. Here is my problem: Every class except Fighter and Rogue gets the same number of Feats it did Ability Score improvements with class levels in 2014 5e (as...
