D&D 5E (2024) Potion miscibility, permanent effects and using potions in the future.

“Potion miscibility” is just “Potion mixability” said by Popeye.

James Wyatt On Dragon Delves' Solo Adventures

Sure, but the as yet imaginary solo D&D game would also be different in unknown ways from the game it's based on. Would this as yet unwritten thing deliver? Impossible to know. BG3 is (a form of) D&D. It is also solo. That it doesn't use pencils is not as relevant to me as the questions "is...

James Wyatt On Dragon Delves' Solo Adventures

    I mean, the best single-player D&D game already exists. It's called Baldur's Gate 3.

    D&D 5E (2024) Reworking the 2024 Hiding rules

    60% combat, 40% eating snacks.

    D&D 5E (2024) Reworking the 2024 Hiding rules

Hmm... gonna rework it to this: "You're hidden when I say you are." Fixes everything!!!

D&D General FINALLY!!! Dragon Delves to include Quickstart Guides for each adventure.

I noticed the emphasis in the Dragon Delves marketing for this: I've long wished for WoTC to adopt this kind of table-readiness in their published adventures. Let's hope this idea takes off. I'm weary of having to read every entry in a whole adventure, and kind of make my way through it...

    D&D 5E (2024) Reworking the 2024 Hiding rules

I’m trying to save the descendant of old “backstab” ability here: Sneak attack. If leaving cover immediately ends the condition, there’s no way to sneak melee attack from hiding.

WotC Chris Perkins announces Retirement from Dungeons and Dragons

I work under a contract that says that ideas i come up with in the same industry belong to the company. Whether folks think that’s “fair” or “right,” is kinda moot. It’s what you agree to when going on staff. Don’t like it? Freelance. At my work they’re very accommodating about getting us...

D&D General Read aloud text in modules: What are folks opinions about read aloud content?

Indeed. And there are also DMs who are not good at describing things extemporaneously. Folks should use whichever method works best for them.

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

Thanks for coming in and posting exactly what i wanted to say, so I don’t have to formulate it!

D&D General Sandbox style: Rumors say a +1 sword is in a cave nearby. Go get it?

Missing kid stole a +1 sword over grandpa’s fireplace mantle and went into the ruins outside town, mother distraught is a better hook.

    D&D 5E (2024) What's Your 2026 WotC D&D Wishlist?

More anthology one-shot collections like Candlekeep Mysteries or Keys from the Golden Vault. Not updates of old adventures, but new adventures by diverse groups of authors with distinctive tones, but solidly within micro-settings like a shadowy organization or a wondrous location. And then...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is no one talking about THE BOOK OF MANY THINGS?

I didn’t get it yet, I don’t have a current need for it. But I liked the campaign idea in it that has your party BUILDING a DoMT by each card being a quest item. Some cool lore and worldbuilding around the deck. And I also like the idea of using the deck as a kind of tarot spread to design...

D&D General Matt Colville on the “Forever DM”

He’s IMO not even in the top ten most annoying D&D YouTubers. I wish he’d get to the point faster, but Geeze given the alternatives, Matt is at least someone I could stand to be in the seat next to on a transpacific flight.

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

I’m happy to just say he’s speaking for himself and i don’t require him to speak for the entire hobby and so now i have to call him wrong wrong wrong for just saying his thoughts. the “consequences” discussion makes me see this from a different perspective. If a new shadowdark character can be...

D&D General What do you want out of your D&D/RPG games?

for me it’s not the first person vs third person thing. That would be great if they’d third person any interaction with each other outside of game mechanics. I’d love it if one character merely had something they wanted, liked or disliked about another character. It’s not about the funny...

D&D General What do you want out of your D&D/RPG games?

I just wish for once my players would have a conversation with each other in character. They sometimes converse in character, but only one-on-one with NPCs. Oh the tantalizing possibility of content that they generate live!

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

As someone who was DEEPLY DEEPLY uncool playing the incredibly uncool nerd game D&D all through the 80s, i don’t mind an uncool game. In fact, i prefer it. I don’t care if movie stars play this game. Why should I? They’re not at my table.

D&D 5E (2024) Is Combat Tedious on Purpose?

So your conspiracy theory that combat in 5e designed in 2013 is tedious to push people towards a system they didn’t have until 2024 is too big of a stretch for me. Especially since 5e is the simplest combat I’ve encountered in D&D post-Gygax.
