    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

The one a I quoted in my DPR post from the other thread (have you read it?). Dual Wielder - +1 AC, Can use weapons that are not Light, stow or draw two weapons instead of one. So for the math, Normal TWF 16 str 3.5(1d6)+3 + 3.5(1d6)+3 = 13 Human TWF 16 str 4.5(1d8)+3 + 4.5(1d8)+3 = 15 A...

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

My analysis included the TWF taking Dual Wielder and GWF taking GW Master. After that, they would have the same number of feats. So they would gain the same benefits based on player preference after that.

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

That would depend on the group. That being said, the design right now would only have you getting maybe 1 magic weapon at low levels of +1 only. So it wouldn't change things too dramatically.

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

A Human TWF would already have the Dual Wielder feat, giving him a DPR of 15 compared to 11.33. About a 32% advantage. He would maintain that advantage until level 5. The other issue you mention are there at lower levels, even the Battlemaster ones starting at level 3. So, is it OK for TWF...

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

It really doesn't fix it, see my post above. It does close the gap some on base damage (but Great Weapon Master adds way more DPR to a Champion Great Weapon Fighter than Dual Wielder does for a TWF), but still barely beats out Duelist and well behind Great Weapons even on base damage at 20. It...

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

For me, I don't see the point in having the DPR fluctuate like it does, from doing too much to too little later on. It can be perfectly linear with all the other styles. Right now, a Human TWF does 32% more base DPR at level 1 than a Greatsword GWF (15 to 11.33). Yet at 20, barely does more...

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

I know when I lived in the south, Single stick + Madu was pretty popular for a while, if not exactly historic. A madu is basically a staff with spear tips on the ends, usually with a boss over the hand. As for sword and shield, it isn't all bad. A guy on reddit listed the Shield master feat...

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

Action Surge does not count as a bonus action, so a TWF would still get his off-hand attack during action surge, but only once as Action Surge gives an extra action, not an extra bonus action. What you say is correct from levels 1-4. TWF outclasses every style by are relatively speaking large...

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

You would still get the higher chance to hit with a magic weapon though. Though I am not sure it is WotC's intention to limit the damage bonus from magic weapons on the off-hand. I saw somewhere though that the idea was that you wouldn't have more than one +3 magic item at 20, with the rest...

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

I reran my numbers based off this information from the other thread. I had to include crits in my numbers to account for GWF, but did not account for misses or hit %, so take it with a grain of salt. The GWF feat is a large damage boost for Champions, pushing over a 20% DPR boost at level 20...

    D&D 5E (2014) Finally

What does the Dual Wielder Feat do? I would like to do some analysis between Great Weapons and TWF using the feats. Thanks in advance.

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

From the other thread. Means a Champion GWF would have approximately a 15%, 27%, 38%, 47% or 54%, (1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 attacks based on level and if an opportunity attack used) chance of gaining a bonus action attack. Not as bad as the leaked alpha since you could only do it once per turn. Still...

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

Part of the problem is those are the leaked alpha feats. We might expect them to stay close to the same, but until Friday, we won't know for sure.

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

Isn't the idea that there really aren't many static bonuses to damage though? You may get four attacks, but each individual attack doesn't do a ton of damage. That is why I like the idea of allowing extra attacks with the off-hand, but without any static bonuses to damage (not even magic). It...

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

It isn't that hard. I regularly fight two weapons in the SCA (armor and rattan stick martial combat). I am a core Sword and Shield guy, but have been working two sticks lately.

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

Why shouldn't it be viable when a relatively simple solution exists. Multiple Bonus attacks without ability modifiers alone pretty much brings it into line, and also doesn't let it get so far ahead levels 1 through 5.

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

Two Weapon Fighting is way ahead of everything from level 1-5. 6-11, Greatsword/Mauls pass it, Greataxe is close, and Duelist closes a lot of ground. I was going to wait until the PH was released to see how feats and subclasses affected balance, but I could post my numbers. At level 11...

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

That would be a funny way to balance it since you could just go Dex based Duelist with a shield and still do more damage than a TWF with the same benefits and higher AC. At least from level 11 on and anytime a TWF cannot use a bonus action pre-11 (second wind), anytime any level you use an...

    D&D 5E (2014) Two-Weapon Fighting Style seems ... bad

I ran a lot of math. When you factor in crits and hit%, the gap grows even farther between any of the offensive options and TWF. The only solution I found was to take away the damage modifier to the off hand and allow it gain extra attacks on the off-hand bonus attack, and allow the TWF to use...
