Goodman Games Offers Assurances About Judges Guild Royalties

As long as Goodman Games holds the stance of "building bridges" and wants to "encourage conversation" with antisemetic and islamaphobic people then I will no longer patronize them. I DO applaud Goodman Games for attempting to refund previous Kickstarter backers, but that doesn't suddenly make...

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

As a Muslim, everything this man is spouting is eggregious. I especially find the part I bolded to be horrible and Islamaphobic. Goodman Games can spin this however they want, but I will no longer be buying their products because they want to "open up a dialogue" with people that believe the...

Worlds of Design: Breaking the Fantasy Mold

Not to de-rail the thread, but my wife is Moroccan and I would love to hear more about your Jewel of the Desert game.

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

Yes, that's my understanding as well. I just linked it because it was pertinent to the thread.

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

I just saw this: Yes, a board game company is suing the president Looks like a lot of board game publishers will be challenging the tariffs in court.

    D&D 5E (2014) Official WotC 5e pdfs

If I remember correctly, they offered a few adventures for a limited time through the DMs Guild. I would have to go back in my library and see if I ever downloaded them.

    D&D 5E (2014) Official WotC 5e pdfs

Was this one of the downloads they made available during the pandemic?

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

I feel like this is the most accurate take. Maybe I'm being hopeful, but everything Daniel is saying here makes sense to me in terms of the classification. On a separate note, hats off to you for choosing to absorb the cost for your affected products. I was a huge fan of the Old World (before...

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

There has been mature Star Wars content in the old EU. These are what a lot of Star Warsa fans arguing for more mature content in modern Star Wars visa TV shows and movies are usually referencing.

Like a said before, budget always plays a role no matter what. Every business decision is made with budget in mind. Does WotC have the capability to budget for such products? Yes. Will they? Most likely not because the ROI is not as high as other products and the introduction of such products...

Hence why I said D&D RPG product. By RPG meaning the pen and paper RPG. BG3, despite it's success is not a mainline product by any means.

I'm not contending that they couldn't. I maintain that from a business perspective I understand why they don't.

More of a budget does not mean infinite budget. WotC is also putting out products that have a higher production quality than most third parties. Are there 3rd Parties that do a better job? Yes, but that is due to a smaller scope.

Well that ship sailed five minutes into 5E's playtest. I was very excited by the idea of "packages" of rules to add to the spine that was D&D to get the flavor of game you wanted. It's a real shame 5E didn't stick to that. We could be seeing "Sword & Sorcery" category books alongside "Magi-tech"...

I wouldn't quite put Dark Sun in that category, and even when they touched upon it during 4E it was not the edgey Sword & Sorcery of old. I don't think we will see something quite like that again. A lot of things have a market. The issue is that companies have to pick and choose what to serve...

I think you'll be waiting a long time for official D&D RPG products in that vein. That type of content has only ever been served up by 3rd Parties, probably for the best from a brand perspective.

Not to de-rail the thread, but that's a similar argument that a segment of Star Wars fans have. I don't really think that plays out. I think D&D's (and Star Wars') strength is that it can present itself to a wide audience right out of the gate. Sure, have some more "mature" content, but I...

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

Oh really? My google-fu was only showing him going back to 2012 (as if 13 years isn't a lot anyway! :ROFLMAO:) but either way you are right, he has a good amount of experience as well just not as much compared to what we are losing. At the end of the day, I think this will probably be a...

Like I said in the other thread on this, that seems to really only leave James Wyatt as anyone that I'm aware of with a significant history in RPG design.

Wow. So, really, the only person left that I recognize as having a decent history in RPG design is James Wyatt.
