    Sage Advice Compendium Update 1/30/2019

Well, a new edition does not have to hold its vallue to the decades of dnd material, or it would be really hard to actualy change anything...

    Sage Advice Compendium Update 1/30/2019

You are for sure entitled to your own rulling in your table. What is being said here is that that is not how that interaction was design to happen. But if that's the way you an your group find the most enjoyment, more power to you!

    Sage Advice Compendium Update 1/30/2019

Sorry but that's not how it works. there is no leftover damage with the half-orc, youreceive all the damage and than it goes back to 1. Leftover damage is not a general rule, its an exeption that is applied to wild shape.

    Wizard vs. Sorcerer

THIS IS SO RIGHT! Twinned haste, bannish, greater inv, hold person/monster can turn a combat around so fast! When I played a chaos sorc my group had a Barbarian and a Paladin, the first time in my life I saw a group that didn't want my to throw fireballs hahahah.

    Wizard vs. Sorcerer

For what it's worth there was a post saying that ritual casting is lackluster because it's corresponds to about 10% of the wizard's spell list... and about the wizard being God or whatever, this yo me looks like a concept being ported from 3e. There it was very true... now, not so much

    Wizard vs. Sorcerer

Oh yes, you are right, you don't get to see the roll, totally blanked on that. But either way it's very strong. Wizard players having the "too good to be used" problem with this power will be really stressed out about their spell slot managment hahaha But my point was just that there are some...

    Wizard vs. Sorcerer

well, it can avoid a critical hit, transform a bad death saving throw in a good one, make any bad roll good or good roll bad. the only limitation is the ability of the player to identify the right time to use it. It can't be avoided, neither de PCs nor the DM can do anithing about it. If this is...

are you sure portrent is not earth shattering?

    Wizard vs. Sorcerer

On the long run your known spells as a sorcerer are very limited. You end up having to choose wich awesome high level spells you character knows and will probably never change them, while the Wizard can possibly have all wizard spells in their arsenal. The subclasses are another point to...

D&D 5E (2014) ToA: Dispel Magic in the Tomb

Xanathar's has some rules for Arcana checks for finding out what spell is being used in combat, using a reaction. maybe using the same rules for dspal would work too?

D&D 5E (2014) ToA: Dispel Magic in the Tomb

I made it very clear to my players that I'd follow as much of the RAW of the adventure as I could, so they probably would not think I'm "cheating". Maybe if you want to give them the information if a spell or effect is dispellable or not, let them make Arcana checks, with the DC based on the...

D&D 5E (2014) Dragon Heist: My Player Wants Volo to Give Him a Copy of Volo's Guide to Monsters?

I used the book on Tomb of Annihilation, it was very helpfull for the players. The way I used it was giving them the "fluff" information of the monster they were reading in the book...
