So I've never Power gamed before.

So I checked with my DM, he says I can use any book. One of my friends convinced me to play a Ranged Fighter, when the DM practically begged me to play a rouge. Or at least that's what I assume he was doing when he ended every sentence with "We could use a rouge."

    Charge question

What you said is right. A charge must take the shortest route to the target, so if they are already at the target, they would have to move away, then charge.

    MC Warlock/Druid

Define the kind of "massive damage" you're wanting. Are we talking lots of dice rolls or big areas of effect?

You made that too easy. Also, :(

So I've never Power gamed before.

Well I'm not entirely sure. I believe we're starting at level 1 with PH starting gold. To quote my DM "...It's going to kinda be a power game." Which, knowing him could mean a few levels above our heads to fight things with Vorpal Swords. And yes I mean Vorpal Swords at level 1... But he may...

So I've never Power gamed before.

Ah. I know what Sneak Attack is. *facepalm* Thanks for the helps. Once I get my hand on my old books I'll look into this stuff.

So I've never Power gamed before.

So one of the players in my group is thinking of starting a 3.5 game. While I have played 3.5, my knowledge of it no where compared to my 4E experience. But seeing how this game may take place in on the night of the 4E campaign until the DM gets over his DM fatigue, I figure I better prepare a...

D&D 4E Need some help understanding 4e Monk attacks

Well, the only game benefit of the unarmed attack is that you don't have to draw a weapon. I still prefer my monks to be unarmed though. Just because it's cool.

D&D 4E Need some help understanding 4e Monk attacks

You get one standard action attack per-round, unless you use an action point (Which give you another standard action) An Off-Hand weapon simply can be used in your off hand while holding another weapon in your main hand. But a two-handed weapon takes up both hands. A Monks power can be used...

Tomb of Horrors is not working out (spoilers)

I agree with the Neverfate. As long as the players are having fun then there is no need to be worried. I mean, you'd have a bigger problem if the players weren't be cautious and running getting killed right and left like a bad horror movie. DND isn't DM vs PCs. However, if the players are...

    Best 'utility' magic weapons.

I like the Hedge Wizards Gloves. Gives you Mage Hand and Prestidigitation as standard actions. Two of the most fun abilites in the game.

    D&D 4E Random/Wandering monsters in 4E

Wondering monsters make sense in most DND settings. It's knowing when to use them. If you have the PCs wondering to a dungeon that you only have the first part prepped might be one. Another might be that you want to give PCs some extra EXP before moving on with the story. So when the PCs set off...

    D&D 4E 4e is Cool :)

I'm glad to hear form someone who respects the old and the new. I hear soooo many complaints from people who played older versions and refuse to like 4e, branding it before they put any real effort into studying the game. Kudos for being adaptive. Mod Note: This thread about liking a game was...

    Prime shot vs. Beast companion

It really depends on what you prefer. A Hawk is cool, doesn't require arrows, and can be used for a lot more than combat. The other builds are more combat focused. But depending on how you build your character, a Beastmaster can be just as about as good as an Archer/Melee Ranger, but have more...

    Building costs in 4th Edition

Another Possible route is to have it as a reward. PCs hear that the Evil Wizard is using Orcs to control slaves in one of his magical towers. PCs go on a mini-quest to free the slave and defeat the Orcs, and as a reward the PCs offer there service and treat the PCs like royally in the Tower...

Deity of Trickery for a cool puzzle I'm going to use

Lolth and Sehanie are the Tricky Gods according to Divine Power. Are you wanting to change it to another? While I have no problem with puzzles, it'd be best to have a clue check. Like Insight Vs Bluff: DC X, You notice that the number has nothing to do with the sticks. Otherwise, your PCs may...

The Scribe: Please tear apart my class!

Well that was interesting. Reading over it quickly it beat my expectations, and seems to place it's self with own identity as a class. I like how different languages have different benefits, and the ritual caster and linguists feat, how ever I would put a bar on them being able to get Supernal...

Do you Expect to hit Epic tier?

In the game I play the DM says he wants to make it to epic, and is even trying to some up with ways to speed up leveling because we're still in heroic and have been playing for over a year. Then again, weather my character will survive is another story. When I play start planing a game, I...

    What can a rat do.....

Crawl inside a large or bigger creature's mouth, the re-size and and slash away. Tie the enemies shoe laces together. Or even crawl up an enemy and take off their armor. Crawl through cracks in the wall to get to the other side and spy/open locked doors. In town, dance around with little...
