    D&D 5E (2014) Barbarian preview!

I like the class and I've liked a lot (not all) but a lot of the 5e art so far but I'm sorry that's a pretty lame barbarian in my opinion. He doesn't have to look like Conan but come on... /sigh

D&D 5E (2014) Interesting talk with Mike Mearls (a few secrets slip too!)

Lot's of encouraging talk in that interview. Nice to see and I really hope they stick to it! :)

D&D 5E (2014) Spells in Stat Blocks are Terrible

Yeah, I too would prefer some kind of scaled back spell stat block for the monsters. If they are just listed that means I have to before the game copy and paste all the monster spells into some kind of doc to have ready. It's a pain in the butt but not the ultimate deal killer, I really like 5e...

D&D 5E (2014) Merwin said it better than Schwalb

Yeah, I'm not against tinkering with you character design. I think it's fun too, I guess for me it's when it's taken to the extreme, looking for exploits as the focus. More of a taste thing but I also bum when players create a character solely based on the "numbers" with very little thought to...

D&D 5E (2014) Merwin said it better than Schwalb

sanishiver I'm really glad to see the trend going in this direction, it's a lot of why I was so fascinated with D&D when I first tried it out. :) Also pretty much why 4e was a pain for me to play and often felt tedious and disconnected.

    D&D 5E (2014) Just a reality check.

Well I did the playtest for the whole time it was around, so I'm positive I like the game, definitely tons more than 4e, and unless something bizarre happens with the PHB, 5e will probably be my fav D&D game system yet. I mean this is a tough crowd and if that poll thread is any indicator plus...

    D&D 5E (2014) Just a reality check.

Strange, my interpretation of the general reaction is the exact opposite. I see most people really liking, if not loving 5e D&D. As a matter of fact this is one of the most positive releases I've seen in a long time. I think this bodes really well for the system and the genre.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Basic Rules poll

IMHO, best version yet of D&D, been playing since '77. So happy it's turned out this way, no deal breakers here, not even close. :)

    D&D 5E (2014) Blog Post by Robert J. Schwalb

Just a quick nod of agreement with the blog entry from me. I think 5e hits the sweet spot between mathematical mechanics and free flow creativity. When playing D&D I personally do not enjoy ultra power gaming, "gaming" the system, exploiting, min/max extremism, etc... I think it kills the mood...

D&D 5E (2014) Opening Page of the PHB

Yeah I dig it too, a bit of a S&S Frank Frazetta vibe, which is nice to see in D&D. I see a "man/male" and he's dark skinned, is this in question? I suppose "he" could be some kind of construct but I'm not feeling that was the intent.

D&D 5E (2014) What does this photo say to you? [Project: Morningstar)

Our crew is already, and have been for a while using tablets and laptops, mostly tablets now. Super glad 5E is supporting the digital side as well. Total plus for us.

    D&D 5E (2014) Art in 5e...?

Ok, in my opinion I do not think the female character on the PHB is "sexualized" in any way shape or form, quite the contrary actually. So, yes I agree to disagree. Overall I like the art and think it's totally cool they have what I believe is a completely appropriate female adventurer kicking...

You and Your Characters: Gender and Sexuality

As a male I feel more comfortable and have more fun rp'ing a male character, just that simple. :)

D&D 5E (2014) [Poll] Do You Like The Direction D&DN Is Heading In?

Really, really liking DDN so far, I've played as a GM and a player and both are super fun. GM'ing is easy like it was in 4E, player options and flexibility is like the 3/3.5E era and the groove is like O/1E/2E. Totally digging it and so is the rest of our "seasoned" crew. :)

D&D 5E (2014) To all the Play-testers: Is it worth it?

Our group is finding the latest playtest rules to be a really good time. We are actually running a loose campaign alternating GM's, running the system through it's paces. We are very much liking it. Personally I like it the best of any D&D system yet, I come from way back 70s original 1e, but as...

Is there anyone who takes music really seriously for D&D?

I've often made custom playlists for different scenes and settings in our games. I am way into the music/sound side of things personally and professionally. I think the right music can be a great backdrop to increase the immersion of the game.

Not happy with playtest goes through it piece by piece

Well I'm really liking it a lot and find it just keeps getting better and better! If it continues like this D&D will happily be back at our gaming table (along side Savage Worlds). We gave 4e a hard full on try, several times even and in the end the Powers/Verisimilitude disconnect among tons...

D&D 5E (2014) Are you happy with D&D Next so far?

So far I'm liking it, and I'm hanging at cautiously optimistic right about now. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself until more play test materials come out. But overall I think we are headed in a good direction.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Monsters....What should they look like?

I want all the info in the stat block, I don't want to ever have to refer to another source or do tons of monster prep homework to run a game. If we lose 4e style stat blocks I will never DM a 5e game.
