Pre-order the Colonial Marines Operations Manual for the ALIEN RPG

This is because its a D&D forum in most users minds and that is what kind of content they are here for.

    OSR Must OSR = Deadly?

Not always an issue but a calous disregard for the lives of those you employ is the fast track to evil alignment for many DM's.

    OSR Must OSR = Deadly?

I agree. IME Six players or more were common and often with more fighter types than anything other class There were sometimes war dogs (I used them a lot) a henchman or two and often in smaller groups two characters per player. You also had to play smart at times though. Also even back in...

    D&D 5E (2014) Bladesinger with a staff

Ah OK. Sorry. I've read the rules or did a while back but even pre COVID my group was avoiding D&D so I haven't got as much time in game as I'd like. We also didn't use feats  last times I played so there was that too. I think a Monk 1 Wizard X would work fine though as you pointed out...

    D&D 5E (2014) Bladesinger with a staff

if you are willing to forgo the highest levels, adding Monk is your best bet. A build like 10/16/14/14/10/10 could work assuming variant human with using your extra GM house rule feat for toughness would get you where you want to be. Having an extra +4 to AC, 6 at the end game isn't bad...

A supposedly great thing that I'll never watch again- Great media that left you cold

I have to say its nice to have a polite but hones disdain thread that has managed to not breakdown into anything personal. Its the very epitome of De gustibus non est disputandum Also agree with much of this list. Whedon wise I liked Buffy, Angel and Firefly though. Dollhouse was really sick...

A supposedly great thing that I'll never watch again- Great media that left you cold

Yep. There are one or two South park episodes, mainly the Underpants Gnomes but you can keep the rest.

A supposedly great thing that I'll never watch again- Great media that left you cold

I kind of agree with this list caveat I adore the Princess Bride and Labyrinth, I liked Bebop and the Witcher and Fantastic Beasts were meh, not terrible. I'm going to try Supernatural at some point though. I just haven't been able to watch an entire episode.

Patterns in gender of AIs that "must be destroyed"

There was a Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors with a male AI, voiced by Pierce Brosnan . Also Utron from the Marvel Universe was male , both were "Absolutely had to go." The eponymous Superintelligence from the Melissa McCarthy movie of the same name is a high threat AI as well but I only know...

    D&D 5E (2014) Polearm Master + quarterstaff...+ shield?

Sure why not? Its RAW , balanced and a D&D version of staff is flexible enough to pool cue it or whatever else is needed to get that extra attack.

Savage Pathfinder Pathfinder Adventure Paths Are Coming To Savage Worlds!

Almost certainly. Anecdote not evidence but a great many groups in my area switched to 5E which does everything we want D&D to do with much less rules load. Simpler rules, coherent, well supported just an all together different and IMO better play experience than 3x/Pathfinder was. Last guy...

"Cool setting, bro. But what's the hook for the PCs?"

Two things. You really have to know your players. I've run two campaigns that might as well be Blades in the Dark (2e and PF Epic 6 if it matters) and the players ate it up. They made their own trouble, engaged with side plots , smuggled, stole and did tons of other things. They never left town...

Even better. Thanks for the correction.

Savage Pathfinder Pathfinder Adventure Paths Are Coming To Savage Worlds!

I think there is a some truth there. Now "All that well" is a bit relative in that they company may be profitable and solvent but not doing as well as it once did simply because a lot of the Pathfinder player base went over to 5E instead. I know my groups did, me especially, one look at that...

Savage Pathfinder Pathfinder Adventure Paths Are Coming To Savage Worlds!

This is good news . Its going to put a bit of money into Piazos pocket and open up their IP to a whole new audience. For anyone who hasn't tried it, incredibly well supported with every genre imaginable and robust rules set. Also of note the game does not require but is more focused around...

    D&D 5E (2014) WotC On Tasha, Race, Alignment: A Several-Year Plan

Good post. However in many places historically ambushing and murdering strangers even those say in your inn was socially acceptably and even tolerated . Its why traveling alone was historical and in some places still is very dangerous. There are also many cultures where hunting "others" is...

    D&D 5E (2014) WotC On Tasha, Race, Alignment: A Several-Year Plan

While it will never go as its a useful way to guide beginning gamers , alignment is just leftover rules cruft and maybe ought to be put in the same bin with percentile thieves skills. In a more "behavior focused" game Bandits and Raiders are people and have motivations as well . Displaced...

D&D 5E (2014) Does the Variant Human need a boost now after Tasha's changes

This happens with nearly every splatbook in every edition of D&D and almost every game except mayb e GURPS which has scientist as its line editor (Sean Dr. Kromm Punch).
