    D&D 5E (2014) Shield Saltiness

I tried it but its not needed at the D&D level of realism. Even than I assumed magic armor which is what most people loot adjusts for the user even when its not explicitly stated to do so and thus it was moot.

    D&D 5E (2014) Shield Saltiness

The most modern US body armor, the improved tactical vest weighs 3.5 pounds (1500 grams) but this is the under armor , basically an arming jack. With the plate carrier and the rest its 35 pounds near 16 kilos By comparison back and breast plate and an arming jacket is probably 25% lighter and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Shield Saltiness

Yep. I have messed about with mail armor and even with the belt, I can't imagine wearing it day in and day out unless I had too. Throw in a stiflingly hot helmet and that is not going to be a nice day for very long. Even if I was in well made plate, unless I was directly in combat or under...

D&D General Kender PC, Yes or No?

I voted no but a yes was possible with three criteria met. #1 Its Dragonlance #2 We had gamed together a long enough time that I knew you'd play in a way that was fun for everyone. #3 The rest of the players were fine with it.

Do You Consider GMing to Be Hard Work?

It can be hard work especially if I bother to prep :p but for me its far more satisfying than playing.

    D&D 5E (2014) Shield Saltiness

Historically in Europe after the fall of Rome till around the 18th century many if not most people were armed. The minimum would be an eating knife but daggers , hangers (what D&D calls a short sword) and other swords were carried along with bucklers by large numbers of people. Clubs or all...

    D&D 5E (2014) Shield Saltiness

Please try and be a little nicer. Its the wrong armor, plate is better fitted but I wore armor all day in actual combat isn't using the military to win an argument but actual practical life or death experience with body armor in roughly the correct weight category Understand I'm not doubting...

    D&D 5E (2014) Shield Saltiness

This won't prevent too many challenges other than normally armored/shielded PC's will lose an action which means they'll risk an extra hit compared to others. This is not a big deal really and so long as it isn't ambush after ambush by heavily equipped foes, its fine. As an aside, D&D would...

    D&D 5E (2014) House Rules

I don't think 5E needs much in the way of house rules beyond fixing the Berserker . However I use a little 3rd party and UA content so I voted "Some"

D&D 5E (2014) What is the appeal of psionic characters for players?

You are a man of impeccable taste. BTW if you don't mind the FUDGE system there is a Deryni RPG . Its good though you probably don't need it if you have the Codex Derynianus and just want to convert it. Blue Rose True20 and the Psychics Handbook by Green Ronin have extremely fitting magic systems.

D&D 5E (2014) What is the appeal of psionic characters for players?

Psionics are fun and have more of a sense of versimilitude than D&D style magic. This kind of magic is very suited to "second sight", "Medium" and romantic fantasy settings like Blue Rose Rules wise don't know how good they are with 5E but back in 3e and especially 2e the psion was really a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Attribute Score Method

To each his own. While I gave a solidly positive review of 3d6 In Order back long ago, that style of gameplay isn't my thing. I prefer more heroic PC's or just build to order. Back in the 2e days I often just let players use whatever set they wanted since it allowed people more choice and I...

Savage Worlds advertised on Hulu? Yes.

Neat. Its nice to see ads for games other than D&D on non YouTube media. As an aside, GURPS has its own celebrity gamer , Thomas Middleditch . he's promoted the game on network TV, CNET and elsewhere.

    D&D 5E (2014) Attribute Score Method

That's not too bad as a more powerful alternate but I'm not skilled enough with 5E to guess the balance changes.

    D&D 5E (2014) Attribute Score Method

27 Point Buy. Fair to everyone, decently balanced, room for some min/maxing if desired. I've have played with 4d6 drop low / normal human only in 5E, I got lucky and made a pretty powerful character which was fun .I still won't use it as it can be less than fun for people with bad rolls. A...

WotC Gale Force 9 Sues WotC [Updated]

Its like that in the US too with all manner of other complication that dry up the amount of available cash for Americans to use for discretionary expenditures. This has to be hurting Hasbro as much is not more than the entertainment companies which if what I hear is to be believed even...

Worlds of Design: How Long Should Your Rulebook Be?

I wrote a 24 Hour RPG some time back. It came to 2700 words or so. I never released it since it was nothing special and I wrote in on impulse. Having written many reviews on this site back in the 3e days along with some articles for other publishers I can tell you from experience, its time...

Patterns in gender of AIs that "must be destroyed"

Not necessarily. AI's may be able to find a way to adjust the code that makes up their core parameters. In fact it may be quite easy for them to outwit anything we can do.
