    D&D 5E (2024) Pulse check on 1D&D excitement level

The Warrior packet in April is going to determine once and for all whether OneD&D is worth investing any more time and energy in. I have a feeling it will indicate very strongly that it will not be worth it at all.

    D&D 5E (2024) Smite Changes

With Clerics casting Smite spells and Find Steed better than Paladins do, Paladins are literally just bad Clerics now.

D&D 5E (2024) New One D&D Playtest Shows Us The New Druid & Paladin

You ... are aware smite has been limited to once per turn, right?

    Crow Eating thread

My guess is that they will make a new, more restrictive, license entirely separate from OGL for OneDnD/5.5/6e/whatevertheycallit. Similar to what they tried with 4e. goes back to eating my crow doused in apple vinegar

Hasbro/WotC has crossed the Trust Thermocline

There can be a conversation on how WOTC and Hasbro can regain trust in the future, but it absolutely cannot be with the current management. At the very least Cynthia Williams needs to be shown the door, and preferably Chris Cocks, Tim Fields, and Dan Rawson, as well.

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

I'd say Wizards' statements are the untrustworthy thing here, not the 2.0 leak.

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

Can't wait to see what new insidious BS they attempt to slip in on us. Stay vigilant, is all I can say. Also, any announcement that doesn't include the words to the effect of "Cynthia Williams, Chris Cocks, and Tim Fields have been relieved of their duties" is useless to me at this point.

    D&D 5E (2024) Lifetime boycott of D&D-branded products?

Not sure about lifetime, but definitely for as long as the current management is at Hasbro/WOTC.

    Can WotC be forgiven?

Hasbro and WOTC needs to fire every suit involved in devising and pushing this new OGL, and publicly announce those firings, name by name. That's the first step of many they need to take.

Paizo Announces New Irrevocable Open RPG License To Replace the OGL

Game over, WOTC and Hasbro. Their greed was their undoing. Serves them right. OneD&D is dead on arrival. No sense continuing to playtest that. Everyone move on to Pathfinder 2e.

    D&D 5E (2014) New Baldur's Gate 3 Video

It uses the reaction system, but it doesn't actually use up your reaction.

    D&D 5E (2014) New Baldur's Gate 3 Video

In addition to. I just leveled my Devotion Paladin to 3 and it indeed does get Sacred Weapon and Turn at that level.

D&D General Solasta: Crown of the Magister reaches 1.0!

Huh, I noticed Solasta is doing the same thing with Cutting Words that BG3 did (bonus action, BI die penalty to ALL rolls for the enemy that turn). I guess the amount of popups that feature could trigger was a bridge too far even for Tactical Adventures to implement RAW.

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger playtest discussion

As for the Hunter's Multiattack, this new one obviously sucks, but it's not like the old one was great, either. They really just need to make it a meaningful expansion of the Attack Action, so that Multiattacking doesn't cancel out things that specifically only work with Attack Actions. Like...

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger playtest discussion

Two words: Passive Perception. None of which Natural Explorer really addressed. Otherwise, all its abilities do is prevent you from getting lost and making sure you have enough food and travel at standard pace, which in execution leads you to skipping exploration entirely. 3 of the 5 Primal...

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger playtest discussion

Any character can stay alert to danger if their Perception is good enough. And while getting lost isn't the only hazard, it is about the only one that dumps you in the exploration pillar for any length of gameplay time. So, yeah, skipping. So, spells.

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger playtest discussion

Natural Explorer, you mean that ability that, if it came into play at all, dealt with the exploration pillar by ... skipping it entirely? Primeval Awareness, you mean that ability that was literally less precise in your favored terrains than out of it? And that you only ever used at all when...

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger playtest discussion

Since 3e, actually. He even had a level in Barbarian in 3e, which was pants-on-head stupid.

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger playtest discussion

Wait, what interesting exploration abilities did the 5e Ranger have to lose in the first place?
