D&D 5E (2014) It's official, WOTC hates Rangers (Tasha's version of Favored Foe is GARBAGE)

The concept of the ranger is popular. The execution of it in 5e up to this point isn't.

    D&D 3.x [3.0] Why did they do a 3.5 version?

The classic 4 were changed relatively little between 3.0 and 3.5.

D&D 5E (2014) It's official, WOTC hates Rangers (Tasha's version of Favored Foe is GARBAGE)

I'm mostly referring to people posting dumb memes instead of even trying to have a discussion.

    D&D 3.x [3.0] Why did they do a 3.5 version?

Unplayably bad Ranger, Paladin, Bard and Monk classes, for starters. 3.5 only fixed two of the above though ...

D&D 5E (2014) It's official, WOTC hates Rangers (Tasha's version of Favored Foe is GARBAGE)

Nice to know some people in this thread are apologists for bad design.

D&D 5E (2014) It's official, WOTC hates Rangers (Tasha's version of Favored Foe is GARBAGE)

Well, the Tasha's preview is out, and the Ranger got utterly shafted, namely in its Favored Foe feature. The exact text (from this source): So 1d4 damage. On only one hit per round. Requires your concentration even though it's not a spell. And you can only use it proficiency bonus times per...

D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Drakewarden and Way of the Ascendant Dragon

Obvious strongly draconic flavors aside, these are in practice a Four Elements Monk and a Beast Master Ranger that don't suck.

D&D 5E (2014) A ranger gimmick should be sensory enhancement

I recommended it, at level 18. You know, the same level where Wizards are casting wish. Permanent truesight is perfectly fair compared to what other classes are getting at that level.

D&D 5E (2014) A ranger gimmick should be sensory enhancement

I've proposed for a while that Feral Senses at Lv. 18 should've been just straight-up permanent truesight. As for Vanish at Lv. 14, hide as a bonus action needs to come sooner than that, around Lv. 6. A Lv. 14 feature should be something like ignoring blindsight, truesight or tremorsense when...

    D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access

PoE 1 took five months to top 500,000 sales, and after a year was at 700,000. Divinity OS2, on the other hand, broke 700,000 in a month after release and was over a million in 2 months. Meanwhile, PoE 2 straight flopped. At best, RTwP is niche these days. We're far from the KOTOR and Dragon...

I guarantee you that's never going to happen.

    D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access

One thing I really hope they do is reward XP for resolving quests and encounters through non-combat means. That's one issue that's really stuck out to me so far.

    D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access

I like that change to Fire Bolt, but I don't care nearly as much for it creating fiery surfaces. Same with Ray of Frost potentially knocking the enemy prone by creating an icy surface. Both of those abilities have struck me as pretty damn OP to have on cantrips.

    D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access

My 3-year-old laptop with a 1060 Max-Q is running it decently enough.

    D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access

User reviews for it are currently 82% positive on Steam. The negative ones are about what I expected, too, only few of them were constructive at all. Most were "$60 for early access???" or "hurr hurr it's DOS3" or "hoe noes muh RTwP." The only negative review from one of the major publications...

    D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access

That Ars Technica review was absolute garbage. Half of the review was him complaining that he wasn't using all of his movement on his turn, which is dumb for obvious reasons. And the other major source of complaint was the companions, when Larian straight up said to everybody that the evil...

    D&D 5E (2014) Psionics in Tasha

It was right up until the edition that ruined all that lore.
