That really doesn't make any sense. It's still very much turn-based because you yourself are taking turns. Swarm AI is just a means of folding multiple turns with the same initiative into one. And BG3 only uses that for the minion-types, anyway. The stronger enemies still take their own turns.

BG3 has swarm AI which makes some groups of enemies all resolve their turns at the same time. While certainly not perfect in its current state, future refinements to such a concept are clearly the direction TB games will be going.

And that TB is superior. And that RTwP is pointless because in battles where you actually have to put in the effort to win, you pause so much it might as well have just been TB from the start. RTwP is only "real time" in low-effort filler battles that only kill a game's pacing. (Which REALLY...

As someone who played FFXVI before BG3, I will warn you that FFXVI is going to feel incredibly disappointing by comparison.

I will say that the recent Coda recut/rename upgrades Part III from "execrable" to "slightly below mediocre." Also that it's no longer called "Part III" allows me to consider it separate from the real Godfather movies as it should be.

Are you confused? That review was for Part II, not III. Part III was and still is terrible.

There's a big difference between early seasons' and later seasons' subverting expectations. The early seasons' subversion came from the assumption people have going in that the main characters will find a way out of the deadly situations they put themselves in, and GoT (and ASOIAF to begin with)...

Nah. GoT's first 4 seasons were as good as advertised. The last 4 seasons being trash doesn't make the NYT right, it just means the show got worse.

Game of Thrones should not be on the list. It was bad for literally as many seasons as it was good.

The 2 spells a round is definitely too much, but honestly, OneD&D should probably at least buff Haste to allow you to make all your attacks with the additional action.

One of the problems that stuck out to me was how meaningless non-lethal is treated. It's basically a "we killed them but we didn't really kill them" placebo ability.

IIRC, one of the patches that came out recently also buffed Isobel's health in that fight so she doesn't go down quite as easily as before.

Lae'zel mentions a few times about training her body to perfection and being disciplined, which screams Fighter or perhaps Monk. Other melee-type classes have less flavor emphasis on that sort of thing, so I feel like she needs to be one of those two classes. Karlach is a bit more flexible...
