    D&D 5E (2014) Blees Still Broken/OP?

I don't think Bless is overpowered. Yes it is a go-to spell for most clerics, I think, and probably the one most likely on which to have his concentrations slot spent, but that doesn't make it overpowered. It just makes it better in many situations than many other opportunities. The usefulness...

    D&D 5E (2014) Altitude and range

This is a reason the play with a grid. Then you can easily count the distance by quickly drawing out a side view to scale on the margins of the battlemat and counting the squares.

D&D 5E (2014) Making standard items less vanilla.

Nothing a Bless spell doesn't already do. Or a barbarian with reckless attack and a bless spell even moreso. So if they are broken with a +3 weapon then they are broken with Bless and/or reckless attack.

    D&D 5E (2014) MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

When using the spell sheet generator for a 4th level cleric, the sheet only generates down to about 5 spells into the 2nd level spells and then nothing. I have to go in manually and "x" the rest of the 2nd level spells to have them show up.

    D&D 5E (2014) MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

Would love to see the Spell Sniper feat cause the cantrips with attack rolls you can choose in your weapons section to have their range doubled.

    D&D 5E (2014) MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

Your explanation section for barbarian rage neglects the condition that the rage is extended by the barbarian making an attack. Also, rage is not extended by being attacked...you have to take damage. Finally, these conditions are not on your turn but since your last turn. Right now it reads...

    D&D 5E (2014) Wand of Wonder?

I think I would rule that a Wild Mage could use Tides of Chaos to reroll.

    What 5e got wrong

Then it wouldn't be D&D. There are plenty of classless systems out there, many quite good. 2nd and 3rd edition Chaosium Runequest come to mind...I believe Chaosium has republished a new BRP system. Check it out. I guess it has the same general stats as D&D but is a completely skill-based system...

5e combat system too simple / boring?

I do let them arrange. And yeah, I already admitted it was a compromise position. But the difference is that with rolling you at least have the chance for 2 low stats (or 2 high stats) or more. At least it has a chance (and not as miniscule as you seem to imply) to throw some monkey wrenches...

5e combat system too simple / boring?

I find stat point buys and standard arrays also tend to churn out cookie cutter PCs. One reason even though I do use the 4d6 drop method (because my players would never allow 3d6 in order), I would never assent to a standard array or point buy...because there are too many optimal allocations for...

    D&D 5E (2014) December Survey is Up

They may have been player friendly, but check out the wording in the 3.0 (not 3.5) DMG. They were all specifically meant for DM use only.

5e combat system too simple / boring?

Sometimes constraint is required in order to be liberated (howze that for a koan?). The philosophy of rolling the dice in order is twofold: 1) You cannot control what you are born as. I wish I were thin and handsome and could play baseball and had a kick ass singing voice, but I am not and...

5e combat system too simple / boring?

This is how it was done back in the day. 3d6 in order. And paladins and monks had huge requirements to enter, so just playing one was a rare and wondrous treat. I, too, much prefer playing PCs as rolled with interesting stat flaws. I think too much is made of min-maxing (and then those same...

    D&D 5E (2014) State of D&D

Agreed. I am running both 5th edition and a legacy 3.5 campaign that is high level and finishing up. The 3.5 party of PCs is 5 spellcasters with some cohorts (all but one of which are spellcasters). The psion can easily have an AC in the mid 60s (at 17th level) and the multiclassed paladin has...

    D&D 5E (2014) MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

Great work! Just discovered your sheet and am using it for my games. Some comments: #1: While the sheet recognizes spiked armour from SCAG, it does not appear in the equipment drag down menus. Please add this. #2: Hypnotic Gaze (the Enchanter special ability) is indicated as 1 use per long...

    D&D 5E (2014) rapier+dagger and/or longsword+dagger?

While it wouldn't be game breaking, I think the mechanism is already in place with a feat...so why is there a need to go through these gyrations? Just have the person wield a shortsword and dagger and call the shortsword an epee or foil. Seems like the player is trying to use a character concept...

D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Magic, Ready action and Fireball

I'd think you could dispel a spell with a duration of 1 round even. I note you say more than 1 round. Not sure why you think you wouldn't be able to dispel a spell with 1 round duration.
