Costs of a kickstarter project (transparency)

Very interesting, although I have no desire nor the talent required to manage a kickstarter I very much appreciate a peek behind the curtain. Thank you. Best of luck on any future endeavours. MK

D&D 5E (2014) Etharis The Dark world of Grim Hollow

This first came to my attention during the Kickstarter for The Monster Grimoire. I almost pulled the trigger then on the strength of the sample art work alone. But I live in Canada where shipping costs can be...challenging. After the kickstarter was finished I haunted the Ghostfire website...

[+] The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power - SPOILERS ALLOWED

My opinion: Pretty but boring -- the first genre series that I actually fell asleep while watching. Not sure how the writers and directors could manage to spend that much money and end up with a story that hasn't got the depth of most video games. I feel happy for anybody that enjoys this...

    Buying to not use

I unapologetically buy a lot of books that I know I will never use in my game and I always have and I always will. I just turned sixty a couple of days ago. I've done the family thing and raised a great bunch of kids. Worked on tech since I was fourteen. Been all over the world. Ran my own...

D&D 5E (2014) Line of Effect Question Aura of Purity

Hey All, Curious about how you rule for these spells. Does an Aura of life spell extend through walls and if not does it re-activate once an unbroken line of sight is restored. A Bard cast Aura of Purity and was concentrating on it and one of his fellow adventurers that was included in the Aura...

Why modern movies suck - they teach us awful lessons

"The Drinker" also writes some suggested fixes for some of the films that are thought provoking because he restricts his re-writes to minimize changes to the actual films while at the same time providing growth and more importantly understandable motivations for the characters. His rewrites of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Musings about weapon damage.

That is a pretty cool idea! I was just looking at a way of adjusting martial character's melee damage without increasing the time spent in combat significantly. In my opinion this is one aspect of combat in 5e that doesn't scale appropriately.

    D&D 5E (2014) Musings about weapon damage.

I have been re-reading the big three MM, PHB, and DMG (something that I honestly never did even when I got all three of these books back in the day). Something struck me - I was kind of wondering with all the changes why the creators did not leverage the rules for weapon damage differently...

RPG Print News – Troll Lord Games, Goodman Games, Legendary Games and More

I received a box yesterday, up here in Canada, a very heavy box filled with all four of the fate-forge books, and all of the figures, art prints, gm screen, adventure modules -- and as a bonus the missing Dearg (book 3) of Esteren. Arrived very well packaged and my gawd what beautiful books...

    D&D and the rising pandemic

If white collar workers think they are safe they are in for a big shock. We've already seen how easy it is to outsource to countries that have lower salaries and no benefits. Just wait until some of the AI systems currently in development come online. Skynet is fiction, these intelligent...
