DM Rewards & DM Quests (Clarifications)

How about this, a definition from the AL Content Catalog? DDHC “Hard Cover”; the seasonal releases that often take characters from 1-10+. May sometimes extend to other evergreen products, like Lost Mine of Phandelver Looks like HC stands for Hard Cover... In fact all of the Adept series are...

D&D 5E (2014) Public Gaming: Home brew setting vs Forgotten Realms

Not at all. If people are having a good time, then great!

    Full Season 7 Mod List

Looks like AL has their full Season 7 module list up now. Next drop isn't until February... :( http://dndadventurersleague.org/storyline-seasons/tomb-of-annihilation/tomb-of-annihilation-adventures/

DM Rewards & DM Quests (Clarifications)

This one is. The one I'm running right now has an AL code of DDHC-TOA-7 and says "Legal for Adventurer's League Play" on the cover. See http://www.dmsguild.com/product/220852/Ruins-of-Mezro.

DM Rewards & DM Quests (Clarifications)

Do the DM' Guild DDHC supplements count as HC for purposes of DM's Rewards?

D&D 5E (2014) Monster Races and a quick sword thrust at the gate

I don't have a problem with this type of hostility (in a story/game). A good DM will make sure there are borderland communities where various usually non-compatible races can gather. You may need to be more caution in more civilized lands, however.

D&D 5E (2014) Drop bow and unsheathe sword: still get to attack?

I do it as many others have mentioned. Drop bow (free), draw sword (interact), attack (action).

DM Rewards & DM Quests (Clarifications)

    Thanks for the prompt answer!

D&D 5E (2014) How much range is enough?

I see 30' ranges come up frequently in combat as a constraint. 60' is a key range for Counterspell, with opposing wizards taking steps to be more than that from opposing casters when possible.

DM Rewards & DM Quests (Clarifications)

Dedicated DM and Epic/Premier DM rewards. It sounds like I can add a +1 bonus to a weapon or armor I've awarded one of my PCs via Dedicated DM. Does this extend to non-generic weapons and armor to items like Flame Tongue, Glamored Armor, etc?

    D&D 5E (2014) Melee Combat and Spells...

Wait until you play a Wizard and have nearly everything save or have your concentration spells evaporate in their second turn.
  12. Warmaster Horus

    Overkill

In a way, perhaps. The idea at first was to keep the mod being played a secret so players would have to plan their teams for a wide array of possibilities. However that doesn't really work in AL because someone could show up with a PC that had already been through the 'secret' mod. Therefore...

D&D 5E (2014) Disarming a caster's component pouch to prevent him from casting spells

"Phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range." "Hey, just what you see, pal!" ;)
  14. Warmaster Horus

D&D 5E (2014) Disarming a caster's component pouch to prevent him from casting spells

That's pretty dumb. Can your armor be 'disarmed' as well? A spell focus, okay. A worn spell pouch? Nope.
  15. Warmaster Horus

    D&D 5E (2014) Players Self-Assigning Rolls

I don't like it when players do this as I want the intent of the roll to take place before the die is cast. Just chucking a die unbidden and then assigning an intent to the outcome - usually a good one - doesn't fly in my game. I nearly never hear a player say, "I roll a 7 to find secret...

    Overkill

Wouldn't have to work this way and I agree that playing with new folks is a good thing about con play. This concept is a turn-about on Min-Maxing (Min on the PC side and Max on the DM side). Because there are so few players allowed it would be advantageous for players to pre-plan for melee...

D&D 5E (2014) What if you had to learn to use weapons?

Sure, but only if I can start with voulge-guisarme proficiency.
  18. Warmaster Horus

    Overkill

That's good to know, Pauper. Good point about attracting optimizers. I'll try it as a test and see what happens.
  19. Warmaster Horus

D&D 5E (2014) Move over Fireball and Spirit Guardians, there is a new best 3rd level spell sheriff in town!

What walks down stairs, Alone or in pairs, and makes a kersqunchity sound? A fork, a torc, a haunch of cooked pork? You'll know Tiny Servant!
  20. Warmaster Horus

    D&D 5E (2014) Blade Ward cantrip

For an Eldritch Knight who can also make an attack when casting a Cantrip, not so bad. Or someone who has a Sword of Speed and wants to fight defensively.
