D&D 5E (2014) Deal Breakers - Or woah, that is just too much

I tend to actually read the fluff and rules for the games I play, so I expect things to conform to the general fiction and mechanics of said rulebook. Playing in a custom setting, or with heavily home ruled mechanics, would be fine if they were honest about I ahead of time, but I loathe when...

D&D 5E (2014) Drawbacks to Increasing Monster AC Across the Board?

I can see throwing creatures in armor if you think they are too easy, but global AC increases are just a NERF to the PCs. Would you consider removing the PCs proficiency bonus to hit ? If not, then why apply buffs to monsters that effectively do the same thing ?

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5E Does flanking grant advantage ?

I can see the logic behind it, but I prefer the positional nature of the flanking rule. They are situations that will occasionaly overlap, but it would bother me if 4 skeletons standing in front of 2 trained fighters automatically had advantage due to weight of numbers.

D&D 5E (2014) Drawbacks to Increasing Monster AC Across the Board?

Everything has lower ACs, but more hit points. It's more fun for players to hit something and do some damage, than to whiff over and over again. 20-30% more fun.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5E Does flanking grant advantage ?

FWIW, you can stop arguing against it use for my benefit. It's a rule we have chosen to use. I just couldn't remember where I read it originally. The players tend to use it when ganging up on a big bad. The monsters tend to use it to swarm high AC PC's. You are outnumbered and the enemy have...

DM's Guild: One Week In - The Best & The Worst

If you shop around long enough on www.fiverr.com you'll find someone willing to draw what you want for $5. Often royalty free, but you should make sure first. Sometimes they'll want an additional fee. I've seen as low as $10-$40.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5E Does flanking grant advantage ?

THANK YOU !! I knew I wasn't just imagining it. Did completely forget there were some combat rules in the DMG. When a creature and at least one of it's allies are adjacent to an enemy and on opposite sides or corners of the enemy space, they flank the enemy, and each of them has advantage on...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5E Does flanking grant advantage ?

We've been playing with that if 2, or more, PCs flank an oppoenent, they have advantage. I don't know if this just a decision on the fly, or confused something from sneak attack, but we've switched who is Dungeon Mastering and he asked me about, because he can't find in the PHB. Now, I swear...

    D&D 5E (2014) How would you incapacitate/knock-out a skeleton?

If it's that small, simply grappling it should be enough to restrain it.

D&D 5E (2014) DMing "Out of the Abyss"

The fact that it emits sunlight is the most useful trait of that sword. In our OOTA adventures, Shuushar falls back when the combat begins, and Buppido, Sarith, and Stool have all moved on, to the afterlife.

    What 5e got wrong

What 5E got Wrong ? The Index in the PHB !! There is nothing more frusterating than trying to look something up quick, and instead of finding a page number being told to go look up another entry in the same index.

    D&D 5E (2014) Resilient Feat

Saelorn, I don't understand the point you are attempting to make. You appear to have gone from arguing against taking Resilient more than once to arguing against feats altogether.

    D&D 5E (2014) [Out of the Abyss]Magic item distribution?

There is nothing left for you to do here ;) The unarmored Wizard and the Fighter in Heavy Armor with Shield have had wildly varying AC values for 30+ years. I acknowledge that, given everyone has an opinion, someone is going to declare this a crisis that must be addressed, but I feel that...

D&D 5E (2014) is it a big deal? Battle master fighter and Human variant...

No. Not only is he being OCD about it, but that feat is pretty much crap for anyone other than a Battle Master. It's like complaining that a Variant Human can take Magic Initiate and get spells before an Eldritch Knight.

    Illusions and Passive Investigation

The characters walk up to a bridge, which happens to be an illusion. * If they check the bridge at all, before crossing, they should get a check. * If they simply walk across the bridge, the first guy is going to make a Dex save or fall in. Always on Passive Investigation turns this into: The...

    D&D 5E (2014) GRAPPLING, FEAT AND DEX

Grappling is done with the Athletics skill, not just strength. A skilled but weaker opponent can defeat a stronger unskilled opponent, as is. Also, Dex monkeys already have the edge in ranged combat and AC, they don't need a boost to grappling as well.

    D&D 5E (2014) Resilient Feat

I'm going to agree with Hawk Diesel on everyone of his points. In our campaigns, it's been understood that you can take resilient multiple times and no one has done it. In our campaigns, I've only seen two people take it at all. In both cases it was because failing a nonproficient save nearly...

    D&D 5E (2014) [Out of the Abyss]Magic item distribution?

Or the Paladin could just get hit less often... or grappled, or hit with spells, or fall in a pit, swarmed by kobolds Our Party's Dwarf Barbarian with the +3 Shield (AC23) has always been the tank of the group. Most of the things we ecnounter, at our CR and higher, have +7 to hit and multiple...
