    D&D 5E (2014) State of D&D

That would be pretty cool. I've never been a big fan of Raveloft, but I'd be up for playing the D&D equivalent of Groundhog Day

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E PHB heading back into the Amazon top 100?

I would imagine that people picking up the books as holiday gifts and the good reviews of Out of The Abyss helped.

D&D 5E (2014) Spectulation: What do you think the next adventure path that WotC will come out with?

If we are getting Vampires and Giants, wouldn't it make more sense to release the Horror/Vampire themed product, closer to Halloween, in the fall ?

    D&D 5E (2014) State of D&D

They are not going to announce any new product until 60-90 days before it's release. It allows them to work on a product until they are happy with it, and they believe that the short time between announcement and release is the optimum amount of time to keep people excited about it. I believe...

    What 5e got wrong

Why should D&D well support a play style that will fully ignores half the classes and all of the magic items that are part of the core D&D experience ? You are trying to impose huge limitations on a game that wasn't designed to accommodate them, and then complaining that it doesn't leave you...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E PHB heading back into the Amazon top 100?

People love a bargain. I had ZERO intention of shelling out $150 to play D&D 5th until I saw all 3 core books for $25 each. The price fluxuates, but it has been hovering under $30 for the last year, and every member of my gaming group has picked up a copy of the PHB siting the $20 savings as a...

D&D 5E (2014) Need help subtly letting the player know they've dropped the ball

I know they dropped the ball for not asking any questions, but the King himself should have spoken up, when they tried to walk away without asking those questions. King: I want you to rescue Leosin Party: Okay (and attemtps to walk out) King: Don't you want to know who Leosin is, or what he...

D&D 5E (2014) How do the races breed?

There was an Encyclopedia Arcane by Mongoose publishing for D&D 3E that covered Crossbreeding in detail. I'm sure it's technique could be adapted to 5E. http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/1806/Encyclopaedia-Arcane-Crossbreeding?it=1 $3.99 There is a review, that covers some of the material...

    What 5e got wrong

I don't recall Dark Sun being Low Magic. Dark Sun was a meatgrinder that encouraged you to make extra characters ahead of time and EVERYONE had psionics.

Reducing the number of encounters in a day

    My Barbarian/Fighter/Ranger/Cleric/Rogue 1/1/1/1/1 would disagree ;)~

That sounds like a feat TACTICIAN - Add Intelligence Modifier in addition to the Dexterity Modifier when making ability checks to determine initiative order.

    What 5e got wrong

No, they don't. Your attributes tell you what to add to a D20 roll when you try to do something, nothing more. D&D is not some PVP video game where ALL things need to be equal to prevent someone from geting an unfair advantage. This line of thought goes along with the people not being able...

    What 5e got wrong

Trust me, your first post was completley vague. If that was your intent, it was completely unclear that was what you were hoping for. Stats being overly unequal in 5E, especially when compared to previous editions is debatable. STR - Melee, Melee Damage, Saves, Athletics DEX - Finese Melee...

Spells for a Necromancer wannabe without the corpses

I really like these spells. Reminds me of the old Puppet Master Movies, and gives me an idea for a new villain to throw at the PCs....

    D&D 5E (2014) Shove awesomeness ?

Meh, I'm trained in various arts and I can easily hooking, or sweeping, someone's leg while holding a sword and shield, even if they are on fire, with no consideration too how much armor they are wearing. The opposed skill check makes more sense than an attack roll. It also simulates a shield...

D&D 5E (2014) How would you make a character who uses a shield like Captain America?

Don't know if this has already been mentioned, but I cam across a link for a Fighter "Shield Master" subclass. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8vpzKeo1_7FdzdtelZIemI4WFk/view It just screams Captain America in D&D

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana "Kits of Old"

The scout kit for fighter is pretty interesting. Mechanically, it's siminlar to the Batlemaster, but trades the combat special abilities for skills and survival abilities. Definitely an attractive alternative to Rangers.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Companion System

It's an interesting system that looks like it works. The cards were a nice touch.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e .

I was sold the moment I saw at will cantrips. It's like having unlimited uses of a handfull of 2nd edition 1st level spells. "So wait let me get this right, D6 hit points, and at first level I get to cast mage armor, which lasts 8 hours, get to throw 1d10 damage fire attacks every round...
