    D&D 5E (2014) Action Surge+double cast

I'll...just never mention this thread to my players. Ever. Thaumaturge.

    D&D 5E (2014) Action Surge+double cast

At 7th, the EK gets War Magic, which lets an EK attack (once) as a bonus action, if she cast a cantrip. So the EK could: cast a cantrip (action), attack (bonus action), cast burning hands (action surge). This I agree with. Thaumaturge.

    D&D 5E (2014) Action Surge+double cast

Right. It's Second Wind that's the bonus action. Or the War Magic ability. I was just discussing True Strike with War Magic elsewhere, and these conversations bled together. Oops. That makes sense. At 7th level, the EK could cast a spell, cast a cantrip, and attack once, if she uses an Action...

    D&D 5E (2014) Action Surge+double cast

I don't think so. I think the Eldritch knight can cast one cantrip and one non-cantrip a round with Action Surge. Thaumaturge.

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone who got an mm at Gencon want to offer up spoilers to us?

Fallen, or overzealous, Angels have a paragraph or two, as I recall. There are no stat changes, but there's nothing stopping you from using them that way. The prose style of the whole book strikes me as "this is the way some representatives of these monsters behave". Go wild. Thaumaturge.

D&D 5E (2014) Frequency of Saves in the Monster Manual

Are you daring people? Shush you, or I'll sic' a carbuncle on you. I see your point. I maybe even agree with it. I may also disagree. A Con save or be petrified when at 1 HP isn't a huge deal--you were probably toast anyway. A Str save to be pushed 5' off a cliff ledge is another story. That's...

D&D 5E (2014) Frequency of Saves in the Monster Manual

It felt like everything fell into this category. It felt like if a monster had 2 abilities that called for saves, one was Con and one was Wis or Dex. I know that's not true, but it's how things felt. I'd say undead were lots of Con and Wis (fear) saves. Dragons were a big mix of Dex, Con...

D&D 5E (2014) Frequency of Saves in the Monster Manual

I was hoping at least one person would guess something else. Not that I can think of what else would make sense. Maybe: Hill giants tell really bad riddles, Int save DC 10 or be stunned. Thaumaturge.

D&D 5E (2014) Frequency of Saves in the Monster Manual

Ok. I'm one of the happy few who has a Monster Manual. I know some of you are really interested in all sorts of monster math, so I figured I would provide people some numbers to tide you over. My Methods I went through the MM page by page. I counted every time a monster had an ability that...

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone who got an mm at Gencon want to offer up spoilers to us?

Mind flayers are CR 7. Mind flayer arcanists are considered deviants by other illithid, are 10th level spellcasters, and CR 8. Thaumaturge.

Wait. I that that was pushover mode. In standard mode, I don't explain where they went wrong. And the ogre probably plays with his food. Thaumaturge.

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone who got an mm at Gencon want to offer up spoilers to us?

No specific rules, no. Lots of "arcane rituals" and "sacrificing". That sort of thing. I figure they're pretty comfortable with a DM working out how best to fit a PC becoming a lich into his own campaign. For mine the rules would be: get to 9th level spells, tell me you want to do it, roleplay...

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone who got an mm at Gencon want to offer up spoilers to us?

Beholder, CR 13/14 Death Tyrant, CR 14/15 Spectator, CR 3 Beholder Zombie, CR 5 Second CRs are for beholders encountered in their lairs. Technically, you could also make half-dragon or vampire beholders. The CR on those would be...something else. Probably. Thaumaturge.

D&D 5E (2014) player wants to use fishing pole as his tool proficiency, what can I do with this?

On the surface, have that proficiency allow him to get enough food whenever they are near a body of water with fish. Halibut you also give him proficiency with net and trident. Those are fishing tools. On the net, I'd say gill the character a couple of flavorful perks, but nothing titanic...

    D&D 5E (2014) Legendary Games gets into the OGL-ized 5E too

I had the same issue and thought the same thing. In the search box on their "oops" page, if you type the title of the adventures, you find them. Or use these links: Murmuring Fountain: http://www.makeyourgamelegendary.com/products-page/all-products/the-murmuring-fountain/ Fiddler's Lament...

D&D 5E (2014) What is WotC actually working on?

Vol 1: Kore Kender, a volume outlining the standard kender races in all of the Multiverse. Includes a chapter on Dark Sun that's three words long. Here's the preview: "They're all dead." Vol 2: Kinder Kender, a volume for those kender who are on a picnic. Full of feats, backgrounds, and...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E Wishlists!

Slightly off topic, but it seems like we should be able to have an EnWorld table rotating DM on google hangouts or roll20 (or whatever). We are primarily DMs, I think, and we could all runs one-shots or mini campaigns for everyone else. The technology exists and we are creative people. I think...
