No where in what I wrote did I reference you at all.

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

I am ever surprised as too how much effort is spent to stop Fighters from getting nice things. Imagine the blowback if Fighter fans tried to dump on spellcasters as often and as heavy.

Fighter did not gain an extra proficiency, its list it could choose from gained one I believe. I believe the Champion gained a proficiency, which is not the same as the Fighter gaining one. There needs to be utility baked into the base class. This is another problem caused by the Fighter trying...

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

Another claim I want to debunk is that not needing to spend resources to act and having greater base defence + HP, means that when spellcasters are low on HP and running low or out of slots the martial classes will carry the day. NO, that is when the adventuring day ends unless the DM has to add...

It's worse than it looks because the Champion and Battlemaster were so flavorless and lack in identity it magnified the problem as not only would the Fighter cause many to say no new class needed, but also these flavorless no identity subclasses made these people say no subclass needed for xyz...

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

The Wizard works because the class defines a character that utilizes magic by research and learning. The Sorcerer works as a class because it defines a spellcaster that inherits or embodies a type of magic. The Cleric works as a class because it defines a magic user with divine servitude. I can...

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

That would be me. One of the reasons the Fighter suffers is because it tries to be the simple fighter and the complex fighter on the same chassis, and both goals suffer for it.

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

A player can always choose to not use mechanics but not to add them. So it would not hurt to give something to Fighters.

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

I want the Wizard to only shoot a magical bolt that only improves slightly over 20 levels, and make the occasional arcana check. To do more than this would harm my fun and verisimilitude.

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

Apparently wanting more than a basic "I attack" and a few Athletics checks hurts some people's fun. Why can't they realize that you add all bells and whistles to a Fighter and they can ignore them and continue to "I attack" and the occasional Athletics check. To be blunt to get a good Fighter...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

Lucky for Batman he has a utility belt that can carry Superman's sandwiches, coffee and spare wands. Because at higher levels of play in and out of combat that is what that means. Keep in mind that with DnD that Superman gets the cool toys as well on top the abilities.

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

Often in cases like this the Fighter is used as stand in for all martial classes except sometimes the Paladin, who always seems to land in a good place. I believe many think that if the Fighters ends up in a good place the other martials will follow.

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

Here is an idea, create a list of legendary/mythical actions/activities tied to each skill or ability score and starting at level 12 and every even level after that martial characters can pick one. eg Forest Walk (Survival): By knowledge of how to find secret paths and raw stamina the travel...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

SSS = Society for Spellcaster Supremacy. Don't worry it's just a bad joke, then again one never knows where they will turn up. Well actually we do, whenever it appears that martials may get nice things or to kill off discussion about the martial plight.

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

Under that idea anything that is not constrained physical activity is magic. That line of thought destroys most if not all of the flavor in the multiverse. Infact it is that blind sort of thinking that has landed us where we are. Many forces and existences can be used to describe why a mere...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

To the idea that a martial character should not be able to do anything beyond X because it would have to be magic, I salute that idea with all the disrespect that it deserves. How about in a multiverse where Good, Evil and Neutrality are active if not sentient forces could they be what is...

D&D 5E (2024) Do you actually like weapon masteries?

I can see this line as right considering what they think about the intellect of the average Fighter player. Also keep in mind that these are the people that put Versatile in print.

D&D 5E (2024) Do you actually like weapon masteries?

The only thing more insulting than putting Flex in front of us as a worthwhile choice, was hyping it up as good design and impactful. We are not as stupid as you would like to believe we are Jeremy. The scarier alternative would be that he honestly believes what he was saying about Flex with...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

I would like to see the Fighter interact with Mastery earlier and use both masteries at 13. On top of this I would like to see at least 2 out of combat abilities. Also something to make up for downgraded damage feats.
