    D&D 5E (2024) Armor, simplified for 5.5E:

Oversimplifying the armor table has reduced the design space and created the illusion of choice. Simplifying further would only exacerbate things.

    D&D 5E (2024) The rapier problem

Brutal in 4e was not just on a 1 it was on the number after Brutal some weapons for example were Brutal 2 so would roll till higher then 2.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rebalancing melee weapons for 5.5E

I think 4e got weapons largely right.

    D&D 5E (2024) The rapier problem

I think the issue is both Dex the god stat and the weapon table as a whole. Finesse enables you to get good melee, ranged, initiative a good save and raft of good skills all because of Dex. The weapon table shows the lack of care in general put into martial characters. I loved 4e weapons, being...

D&D 5E (2014) [+]What does your "complex fighter" look like?

To sum up the previous conversation it is fair to say that the Fighter does not get as many abilities as casters so a good starting point to improve the Fighter would be to add more abilities. The number of which would be dependent upon the strength of said abilities. This opened up space would...

D&D 5E (2014) [+]What does your "complex fighter" look like?

It makes a point on the level of integrity that will be maintained in the discussion. What is the point some may ask, that is for real and meaningful discussion to take place you need to trust the other side is engaging in the topic truthfully.

D&D 5E (2014) [+]What does your "complex fighter" look like?

I don't see how anyone can in all honesty say that spellcasting is just one feature.

D&D 5E (2014) [+]What does your "complex fighter" look like?

Should crit damage increase as a martial character's level increases? As things stand the crits of Fighters at higher levels becomes more of a joke +1d8 or even +2d6 at Tier 3-4 is a bad joke not critical damage. With HP bloat of many monsters HP pools increasing crit damage over levels would...

D&D 5E (2014) [+]What does your "complex fighter" look like?

When you call a martial ability a spell you are objectively telling a lie. You don't have to like the ability or that type of ability but labeling it a spell is lie. One who tells lies is a liar. So yes I am really sure of it. Over the last decade it has been alright to tell such lies but...

D&D 5E (2014) [+]What does your "complex fighter" look like?

The + part is about not arguing if the Fighter needs improving. I agree that it needs to be improved and impediments to that improvement need dealing with.

D&D 5E (2014) [+]What does your "complex fighter" look like?

To get a decent Fighter the designers will need to learn to ignore 3 groups they have been bending over for: 1. Spell caster Supremacist 2. The Fighter has to be Joe Average crowd 3. The Liars ie "That's a spell" crowd Also mechanically they need to separate the simple and "advanced" Fighter as...

D&D General When D&D Co-Creator Dave Arneson Asked WotC For A Job!

Most of us do not claim he is evil, just an unmotivated person that rode on the cotails of other peoples work and believed he was owed for his one good idea.

D&D General New WOTC racism allegations regarding Hadozee and Spelljammer

So SOME of the population of an ANIMAL SPECIES was captured to be used as beasts of burden. An attempt to enlarge them made them unintentionally intelligent and sentient, after which they were released. With this in mind why aren't all you heroes complaining about the horse and Ox entries in the...

D&D General New WOTC racism allegations regarding Hadozee and Spelljammer

If you look for a problem chances are you will find one. In regards to slavery in fiction, it is not a problem as long as it is not glorified and viewed as harmful to the enslaved and something to be stood against.

D&D General When D&D Co-Creator Dave Arneson Asked WotC For A Job!

There are 3 things Arneson could of done that would of immensely helped him in his endeavor to join WotC or any position in the gaming industry. 1. Take creative and technical writing classes 2. Seek counseling regarding his motivational issues and general inability to finish projects and 3...

D&D General When D&D Co-Creator Dave Arneson Asked WotC For A Job!

Reading that killed both brain cells and respect. There was a man suffering from a deficit of self awareness and drive.

D&D 5E (2014) Considering Bigby's Big Book of Giants: How much use did you get out of Fizban's Big Book of Dragons?

It did not have to be a " GM Facing" book, at the beginning of 5e it was stated that they wanted books to be of use to player and GM, which makes sense as there would be a larger customer base aimed at purchasing such books.

D&D 5E (2014) Considering Bigby's Big Book of Giants: How much use did you get out of Fizban's Big Book of Dragons?

The issue was rarely what was there but instead what was not, so much low hanging fruit was missed let alone pushing boundaries.

D&D 5E (2014) Considering Bigby's Big Book of Giants: How much use did you get out of Fizban's Big Book of Dragons?

Fizbans could of been so much more if they did not put so little effort into it. Just like Spelljammer Danny the intern phoned it in.
