    D&D 5E (2014) General Feats Discussion

I •would• allow characters who took the elemental adept feat to affect creatures with immunity to their chosen element as if they were resistant to the element instead. I'd also allow them to create minor magical effects related to their chosen element similar to the elemental attunement feature...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is Druidcraft useful?

Yeah I kind of love these spells. And I like that the effects of druidcraft are different than thaumaturgy or prestidigitation. It's obviously much more effective in the wilds. It'd be a first-pick for me. But stuff like this really depends on the type of campaign and the DM. If you're in a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Preview: Manticore

I think it looks pretty awesome, myself. Unsettling.

D&D 5E (2014) Beast Master Ranger List of Animal Companions

The issue I see with it is that it's so good just about everyone will be running around with giant badgers. The ranger would be making 5 attacks per round after level 11.

D&D 5E (2014) Beast Master Ranger List of Animal Companions

Hah, that's a bit more complicated. If I have some time over the next day I'll see if I can get it together. I'd like to see what that looks like as well...

D&D 5E (2014) Barbarian vs Fighter vs Monk

Ugh. What beak-gan as a great thread has obviously jumped the shark.

D&D 5E (2014) Beast Master Ranger List of Animal Companions

No problem! Hah, yeah. There are definitely some more optimal choices. I only included AC because the Ranger adds their proficiency bonus to the companion's AC. Is that bonus added even if the companion is wearing barding? Me too! I also like the giant wolf spider for the overall mobility...

D&D 5E (2014) Beast Master Ranger List of Animal Companions

Hey all, I don't know if this is of interest to anyone or even if it's legible to anyone but me, but I threw together a list featuring all of the "legal" Beast Master Companions from the D&D Basic PDF along with some quick stats so you could look at them all together instead of flipping through...

    D&D 5E (2014) [5e] Spell descriptions missing in PHB

    Bad post. Sorry! Forget it.

D&D 5E (2014) Any authors you think should be in Appendix E but are not?

Topic for another thread sometime when you feel like it, but I'd be very interested to know how you find Bakker's work to be derivative of Tolkien. I don't see it - I'm interested in your insight. He's probably a little dark for the list, though, I agree. I agree with you about Robin Hobb - the...

D&D 5E (2014) Any authors you think should be in Appendix E but are not?

I love this thread! Building my reading list back up... I wanted to second R Scott Bakker's Prince of Nothing series.

    D&D 5E (2014) Finally

Thanks for posting! :-) Would you mind going through the illusion wizards abilities? They've always been my favorite. Cheers!

    D&D 5E (2014) A bard walks into a bar

Hah that's cool. To each their own. Looked like a she to me with short hair and an attitude. :-D It reminded me of a friend of mine actually, and she's a she. So maybe that colored my perception of the gender. It's funny to me because I really didn't like the tiefling art at all. Or the warlock...

    D&D 5E (2014) A bard walks into a bar

Looking good to me. And I like the art - she looks like a badass. I haven't looked at the alpha playtest, so I don't know what they can actually do... but for a fluffy preview it certainly makes me excited to get my filthy paws on a Player's Handbook, which is the point of these previews I'd...

D&D 5E (2014) Rules Discussion: Somatic Components and Restrained

I'd give the cleric some chance. A dex save or concentration check would be reasonable to me. But of course I'd also remind the players that NPCs and spellcasting monsters would have the same chances.

    D&D 5E (2014) Tiefling preview!

I'd imagine this is the 'core' tiefling, and that there will be some setting-specific tiefling sub-races down the line. To me, this is Wizards letting us know the race is a fundamental part of the 5e canon and will be supported as such. Because it's core and not tied to a particular setting...

    D&D 5E (2014) Tiefling preview!

I don't mind the writeup - seems fine to me. But then again my favorite character in 4e was my tiefling warlock. I never played Planescape back in my 2e days so I wasn't attached to that concept. And even if I didn't like it, it's the easiest thing to forget or change. I feel like I read race...

ADD 1st ed Monk conversion to ADD 2nd ed

Hehe - I don't have it myself. I just was looking for something similar a while back and came across that info. I will tell you that while I like the dragon magazine monk, it's very powerful. It could be totally fine or a nightmare, depending on the overall power level of your campaign.

ADD 1st ed Monk conversion to ADD 2nd ed

There was an accessory for 2E called 'The Scarlet Brotherhood' written by Sean K Reynolds that has 2nd edition versions of the monk and the assassin classes. If you can get ahold of that you'll have the TSR take on the class at the time.
