D&D General The Making of Original Dungeons & Dragons: 1970-1977 Coming In June

It was, but that's changing. Physical books sales always decline as you get longer and longer into a new edition. Hence, they're moving to a purely digital format. DNDBeyond and VTT based modules is the future for D&D. Charging subscription fees to dndbeyond/vtt users and/or charging for...

RPG Print News – The Arcane Library, Troll Lord Games, and More

The game is marketed as OSR themed with some modern mechanics. NSR is an accurate label for that. I vastly prefer it to 5e myself.

D&D General The Making of Original Dungeons & Dragons: 1970-1977 Coming In June

Again, no chance of that happening. Their attention to quality physical products remains extremely lackluster. Not to mention they have zero physical books coming out after Monster Manual 2025. Hasbro fired the entire WotC physical book team remember.

D&D General The Making of Original Dungeons & Dragons: 1970-1977 Coming In June

There is zero chance of WotC actually putting out a quality physical product at this point. This book will be a cheap glued binding chunk of thin paper just like all of their other books.

D&D 5E (2014) Vecna: Eve of Ruin Coming May 21st!

Both covers look horrible. You've got cyborg vecna in the first, and a pencil sketch of a hand in the second that looks like it was done via AI.

RPG Print News – Runehammer, Cubicle 7, Legendary Games, and More

Crown and Skull is such a stunning book.

    WotC Hasbro selling D&D IP?

Declining sales is not failing? BG3 was the only bright spot last year for D&D, which was mostly due to Larian Studios, who's major investor is Tencent. I wouldn't discount this rumor just yet.

D&D General Resolution Games and Wizards of the Coast Announce the First Official D&D Virtual Reality Game

Dark Sun will NEVER see a 5e release. Nor does it need an overhaul. WotC could use one though.

    PaizoCon at Local Game Stores

Not necessarily. I bought the core rulebook just a couple weeks ago after the remaster came out. Why you might ask? A. It's got all of the collected errata (being the 6th printing) and none of the new errors that are in the remaster books. B. It's got more classes and races and includes the OGL...

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

IMO we are just entering the golden age of TTRPG's now. With more and more people moving on from D&D 5e, and embracing other publishers and different games.

RPG Crowdfunding News – The MCDM RPG, cyan starlight, Meta Domain, and more

Savage Gladiators needs some love. It's got 5 days to go and needs about another 2k CAD to fund.

Podcast #279: Hasbro Layoffs and D&D's Future

2024 "D&D" all hinges on the VTT. If they get the subs, it could do well for a time, but then Hasbro will try to monetize the crap out of it with micro transactions until people get fed up and move on to something else. The lifespan of digital video games like this is pretty short.

Same here. WotC lost my support a long time ago.

WotC WotC Removes Release Dates From Promo Images For 2024

Mechanically, TSR books were all over the map. They were not balanced, but they didn't really care much about balance back then. Their strength was in the lore and fluff material. It was creative, well written, and was not infected by postmodernist nonsense. From TSR, I loved the campaign...

D&D 3.x Ben Riggs shares Sunless Citadel sales numbers

You're spot on about Paizo. Their adventure paths are the gold standard of adventure design and literally give the GM an entire campaign framework to run. The adventure books for 5e sold well only because D&D is so much more popular now due to social media and marketing. The majority of the 5e...

WotC WotC Removes Release Dates From Promo Images For 2024

No kidding. I'm still amazed that anyone actually still has faith in WotC after the repeated mistakes, product quality issues, and communication blunders (not to mention the OGL scandal that sparked it all off) without any sign whatsoever of learning from their past mistakes. A company that...

A Look at the New Deck of Many Things

Very aware they retconned it in past editions, but the end result was actually pretty creative and fun. This book goes in a totally different direction which comes across as dull and uninspired to me. Read the thread, and I can't say I agree with most of it. This product definitely isn't for...
