D&D 5E (2014) How often do you use the versatile property?

I most often see it on monks using a quarterstaff. Similar to AaronOfBarbaria's experience, I have a character with a magical longsword that uses it two handed because he has the Great Weapon Fighting Style. He certainly could use a bigger, greater sword, but we tend to fight a lot of things...

    Professor Build Concept

You could always throw in some rogue / knowledge cleric. Rogue 1 can get you expertise in two knowledge skills and knowledge cleric 1 can get you two more. You could even put some intelligence towards an arcane trickster if you wanted too.

Dungeon Delver 9 Inspiring Leader 16 Mobile 18 Observant 13 We're down to a pretty good list now. But Dungeon Delver is still my least favorite of the bunch.

Dungeon Delver 14 Healer 7 Inspiring Leader 20 Mobile 20 Observant 19 Sentinel 5 Shield Master 7 Dungeon Delver just would not have been useful in any of the games I've played. On the other hand, Inspiring Leader has made the difference between life and death multiple times.

Build-wise, what's far too common in the AL?

I see a lot of half elves--Paladins, Sorcerers' Warlocks, Bards, anything really, but especially those Charisma classes. I see a lot of Variant humans too, but at least their feat offers them some diversity/creativity, so in general I'm okay with seeing a ton of them. Plus they should be the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Are Rogues mostly archers?

My rogue character uses a skirmishing style in melee, but he is pretty unique and kinda complex. Long post ahead, if you want the summary, just skip to the last paragraph. The next three are just my personal experience and demonstration of a melee rogue. First of all, he is a Fighter...

What sort of character will you build for Curse of Strahd?

This season we decided our party was a little too optimized, so we vowed to do something a little more wacky and unusual next season. We came up with the idea to make Dragonborn clerics of Tiamat. There are five of us, so we have all the colors covered. I imagine it as sort of a party of evil...

D&D 5E (2014) 100 Trinkets: Curse of Strahd Edition (Collaborative effort)

    41. A child sized mask with a wolf-like face. It occasionally cries tears of blood. 42. A fine top hat that feels much heavier than it should. When looking into it there appears to be nothing inside. However when no one is looking and you reach inside, it feels as if something furry is moving...

D&D 5E (2014) 100 Trinkets: Curse of Strahd Edition (Collaborative effort)

    34. A collar that form fits to the wearer's neck. Whoever wears the collar has an echo whenever they speak. 35. A white and lacy umbrella that seems impossible to open. However, it pops open during sunny days. 36. An ancient clock that fits in the palm of your hand. It seems to be counting...

    D&D 5E (2014) Regenerate cheese

I'd figured they'd see a guy get back up from the brink, but still look pretty shaky (wounded/low HP). They take him down quick again and stab him a couple extra times to make sure his pulse stopped for good this time. Your scenario above also assume they know not only that is a magical effect...

    16. A blank wooden board that when you ask it a question it spells out answers in a language unknown to you. To everyone else it looks like a simple plank of wood--only you can see the letters.

D&D 5E (2014) What Makes the Fighter Best at Fighing?

I agree with the majority of people. A fighter's Action Surge, Extra Attacks, and Extra ASI are the core of a fighter's power. But the rest of the features add up to make a complete class. Although, I would like to note that Maneuvers are also very "fightery". They don't use magic or...
