    D&D 4E Mass Battle Rules for 4e

I would use the Fascinated condition. You can keep the enemy general's attention (and that nearby troops on both sides) "locked" on you, but if an obvious threat crops up (like one of your own allies taking advantage to try to stab them or something) the Fascinate effects break.

D&D 4E 4e Compared to Trad D&D; What You Lose, What You Gain

I think I disagree with this part. I don't see why there wouldn't be serial exploration or a keyed map. I have played in several 1e converted to 4e adventures (we have a GM who likes that) who used these resources. I've personally used random encounters/wandering monsters in 4e (as well as been...

Why is Plane Shift Clr 5, Sor/Wiz 7?

Google probably revealed the thread, for someone looking for the answer to this question.

Why is Plane Shift Clr 5, Sor/Wiz 7?

Clerics can send you directly to hell, and they can visit their heaven. It doesn't take you with them, if you use it offensively.

    D&D 4E 4e PDF bundles?

I doubt there ever was a PDF bundle, because the offline Character Builder was just so popular. Alas, that builder is no longer available.

    Stats for civilians?

Sometimes I built them just to have skill bonuses. Example: Barkeeper. Charisma modifier of +1 or +2. Social skills of +5 or so (1st-level minion). I might give them an encounter ability to gain a +2 or +5 bonus to a single skill check. (My minion tokens have a "bloodied" side, so I use that to...

The Latest Pathfinder 2 Playtest Update Has Dropped!

I don't agree with trying to balance mechanical advantages with roleplaying, unless you have some kind of meta-currency (hero points, Fate points, etc). I think the half-races are less popular in some (most?) groups because they seem to have less identity. I also usually find half-elves...

The Latest Pathfinder 2 Playtest Update Has Dropped!

Traditionally they are rare. I don't believe they are common anywhere in Golarion. A few settings have gone out of their way to make them common in a few places. In Forgotten Realms, Aglarond is basically half-elf-ville, and unlike most half-elf depictions I'm familiar with, they're not...

    Breaking Morale

I am completely opposed to the idea of PC morale. PCs who fight to the death, and die, are the writers of their own fate. My opinion is more mixed with NPCs. Unfortunately I don't find morale dice rolls to be a good mechanic. How many times do you roll for morale in an encounter? If a PC rolls...

Why is there no love for are boys/girls the gem dragons?

To be honest, there are too many types of dragons already... and I suspect the majority of WotC game staff don't like psionics.

thief abilities: should they have been NWPs?

I have seen D&D books covering thief skills as NWPs. I think it was Skills & Powers, but that was long ago, and I never actually owned that S&P book, so I can't be entirely sure. Prior to 3e, D&D had lots of non-unified mechanics and sometimes odd takes on niche protection. I vaguely recall...

    Gender and Sexuality in Golarion

Sexism shouldn't impact PCs. There should not be rules for females with lower Strength, bonuses to "feminine skills" or anything like that. However sexism might be part of a setting. (Perhaps female NPC warriors in some human cultures are rare. Perhaps humans from some cultures are astonished at...

Monks in Pathfinder 2: Fighting Styles & Ki

I am happy to see this, but I hope it's not the dawn of the 14 or 15 AC monk at 1st-level. I am playing a brawler right now. My starting AC was 17 (Dex and chain shirt), which is generally higher than a rogue, roughly equal to a ranger and lower than a fighter, so it felt right. I doubt a...

D&D 4E Conan vs the Swarms of Soldiers.

Would Conan as a slayer make more sense? Slayers are tough (lots of hit points, lots of healing surges) but use a more mobile combat style and don't wear as much armor. Conan has fought in chainmail, but also in no armor at all. I don't get the impression he marks foes, at least not on a regular...

D&D 4E Conan vs the Swarms of Soldiers.

I was going to mention that. IIRC there are fighter daily powers that essentially surround the fighter with a zone of "damage" (IIRC 1[W] damage). But not relevant if we are only discussing level 1 fighters.

D&D 4E Conan vs the Swarms of Soldiers.

A swarm of soldiers feels powerful, like a real challenge, but things can get ludicrous if you can knock them prone, slide them (you can with AoE powers such as a lot of monk powers) and so on. From descriptions of Conan fighting, he is always moving to avoid getting hit so I don't think a...

Pathfinder 2E We need a damage on a miss forum again!!

Unless they use a disguise. In World War I, officers wore swords, for a very short period of time. They were targeted first by machine guns. That tradition vanished all of a sudden. I would expect very few wizards wearing obvious, long constraining robes that have the subtlety of a red shirt...
