Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

I believe sea fairing minotaurs originated in Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

D&D 5E (2024) Next issue of Game Informer will have details on the two upcoming Forgotten Realms books

We know circle casting is in the book and PCs can use it. Circle casting is most strongly associated with the Red Wizards. Ergo, I would be very surprised if Red Wizard faction isn’t covered. Zents are sure to be included too. I reckon good guy and bad guy factions will have equal coverage.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

I think this new cover is very Elmore-ish. Composited, posed, painted on armour, bright palette. Technically, Elmore is not very good. Yet lots of people love his work (not me). And that's the thing. Technically, the SCAG cover is much better art. Yet on an emotional level, my response to it is...

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

Well done, you have uncovered a secret closely guarded for 50 years by concealing the names of the dozens of people involved inside the cover.

Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

No one ever changed anyone’s mind by badgering them, all it does if harden the opposition. A boycott will never actually change anything unless a majority of people share your views. It’s just about feeling better about yourself. I’m vegetarian, but I’m not going to impose that on other people...

D&D 5E (2014) Onmyoji: A class in production: feedback welcome

    Consealer Troi. What? I’m dyslexic!

D&D 5E (2024) Next issue of Game Informer will have details on the two upcoming Forgotten Realms books

I seem to recall Wychlaran use circle magic? I think with most of these, when it comes to PCs, it will be an association, rather than full time membership.

D&D 5E (2024) Next issue of Game Informer will have details on the two upcoming Forgotten Realms books

One thing to do would be to look at the prestige class list from 3e. Quite a few of those are based around factions. NB, I'm editing my earlier post as I think of stuff.

Wychlaran; Arcane Brotherhood (still active in RotFM, even if the current status of the Hostower is vague); Scholars of Candlekeep.

    WAR OF THE WORLDS Trailer

Some random thoughts on the War of the Worlds novel, and the many adaptations: The main theme of the novel is invasion by technologically superior aliens. This is generally considered to be an anti-colonialist allegory. It has become a standard science fiction plot, but it will be interesting...

D&D's October Product Revealed to Be Stranger Things Tie-In

I remember coloured dungeon tiles from 1980. Using four colour printing I think. 3PP, not TSR. Possibly Judges Guild or Games Workshop?

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

Spock detects and destroys the machine, but to his surprise Trelane still has his powers. It seems to me that the Q do not have children in the biological sense, but occasionally beings spontaneously develop reality altering abilities, and these can be “invited” to join the Q continuum...

    WAR OF THE WORLDS Trailer

It seems to that the intent is that the aliens are LLMs, who having assimilated all the data on their own world move on to search for data to assimilate on new worlds. “Food” is used metaphorically to mean something they hunger for. It could work as a Doctor Who plot.

Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

A group of mercenaries set out to steal the treasure from under the nose of a monster. I put it to you that The Hobbit is swords and sorcery.

Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

I have never seen a PC Dragonborn. Current flavor of the month are warforged and tabaxi, recently edging out halflings. Despite its popularity, the only effect of BG3 I have noticed was a PC gith.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

Weird, I don’t see it. Not that I would see it as a problem, but I’m just not seeing what you are seeing. Some kind of blue dress optical illusion? Edit: I think the SCAG illustration was built on a pencil drawing, therefore there are dark lines defining the facial features of the foreground...

D&D's October Product Revealed to Be Stranger Things Tie-In

They were using a mixture of Basic and AD&D products on the show (and no doubt a load of house rules). Which is what we did at the time. But they could assume these are updated versions of the of 1980s adventures, but keeping most of the original text.

Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

Odd, as Conan is tonally quite similar to GoT. I’m glad D&D dodged that bullet though, the real world has enough grimdarkness, I want some optimism in my leisure activities.
