    anti-magic field effect on spells

Here's a thread I started a few months ago... hoping to find out how the AMF finally works... Good LucK!

Which 3rd ed classes should have been core?

I would remove: 1) The Monk (Too oriental for my tastes). 2) The Sorcerer (I hate those lazy bast-ards who get spells without studying and without paying their as-ses off). ...and I would bother with balancing out the rest of them 9 classes. Moreover, I would never bring any of the ToB...

Any down sides to having DM fail to detect illusions?

I know that what I'm about to do is probably wrong... I know that I will sound like a prick. But... I'm really tired of answering to every wrong point (wrong... for me) made here, and in the other thread. Honestly, I find that the majority of points made by Arrowhawk, Tovec, and airwalkrr...

How a ****ing cantrip exterminates an entire school of magic. NO MORE OF THAT!

Even so, White Wolf games are far less combat oriented than D&D is. And just because you can find munchkins and powergamers in every game out there, it does not make games equal in respect to combat orientation. There are killers, rapists and cat burglars in every city, be that Zurich, London...

Any down sides to having DM fail to detect illusions?

I think the answer to that question lies in the SRD as it is: Illusion spells deceive the senses or minds of others. They cause people to see things that are not there, not see things that are there, hear phantom noises, or remember things that never happened. The addition to that, would be...

Any down sides to having DM fail to detect illusions?

Any down sides to having DM fail to detect illusions? No downsides. Such a rule, or one in the same spirit, could only make for a better game.

How a ****ing cantrip exterminates an entire school of magic. NO MORE OF THAT!

Easy answer: Because combat is the most complicated aspect of the game. Combat needs plenty of rules to be resolved properly, whereas almost every other aspect of the game is not so rules-dependant. White Wolf, who beats both TSR and WotC 10 times out of 10 on all aspects of ROLE-playing, has...

Just because you provided two harmless examples, this does not mean that this stands for every case. In my experience, it is quite the opposite. The detection of an Illusion could make the difference between the life and death of character, and can be decisive for even bigger things as well...

And I find your objections flawed as well. ...So... it seems we disagree. :) Won't be the first time, and probably not the last. No harm done.

Hmm... I don't think that you could have found anything more irrelevant or out of context in respect to what I said... and to this discussion in general.. even if you had tried. ...but enjoy it if you must. I think that this question/argument has been addressed already in this thread about 2...

Intelligent use? What do you mean? All you have to do is cast detect magic and walk in... Detect Magic has no intelligent use... it has one use and that is casting it and looking around. ....If on the other hand you are referring to the "timing" as intelligent use, I think it has already...

And I'm not convinced that you understand the extent of the problem, especially for those who like using illusions outside of battle where the 3 round process makes no difference. is that you the DM? are you giving the same metagame advice Jack has been giving a few pages now? Cause if you...

...and I'm listening and replying accordingly, yes. Listening does not mean I have to agree with whatever I listen too. What's your point? As you can see, I'm not the only one who believes there is some "glitch" here.
